WE are buying underwear for Illegals

The thread starter raises the immediate question: What would be the consequences of letting a large detained population go commando? In most such facilities bathing is infrequent compared to what people on the outside enjoy. With lots of unwashed people in relatively crowded space the hygenic benefits of underwear may be a lot cheaper than the consequences of treating illness. From a purely economic standpoint I'm thinking money spent on underwear would be a fraction of the cost of treating an outbreak of Hepatitis. Also, according to the literature I've read, (mostly because of 6721 thought-provoking thread starter) underpants, particularly the tighty whitey, retain heat and work against sperm production. Who on this thread would be against a reduced fertility among those detained for illegally crossing our border?

When do people use common sense? instead of trying to deflect what is clearly written on a Fed.PO or tying to blame the VRC stop and use common sense.
Right now there are thousands of unvaccinated illegals housed in few place. Thousands who have never been vaccinated and who likely have paid little attention to sanitary conditions.
Do you think any of those thousands of illegals have any infectious disease?
What do you think will happen when those diseases spread around?
Do you think any of the people helping them will contract any of the diseases and/ or carry them to people outside the illegal detention facilities?
Example:look at quickly chicken pox or measles spreads in a class of kids with some who have not been vaccinated.

In one of the ABC articles a Doc mentioned staph. Do you know how quickly staph spreads?
This is just on top of all the other craps being brought into and brought onto the American people.
I see Calif got the Feds to stop sending the illegals there. myvbe they will send them to Seattle and people who live there who think this is overblown can see first hand the issues.

If the employers want to cheat the taxpayers out of billions in payroll and income taxes, who cares? If they want to make Medicaid and local hospitals shoulder the cost of employee injuries because they won't provide workers compensation coverage, no problem.

But dammit, if these illegals think they're going to hustle a free pair of underwear, they've got another thing comin'! Screw them and their bratty kids! They can freeball their sweaty nuts back to Guatemala or whatever Mexican country they're coming from!

Clean- I'm game as long as you agree to pay the bill for the Iraq War #2 and don't mind taking care of the 4,000 caskets we'll drop off at your house.

MrD
That snark isn't typical of you and reveals you either don't have an understanding( perhaps not living here puts blinders on people)of the enormity of the problem
or you think there is unlimited money available.
I pointed out this particular issue of underwear at a cost of millions is just another brick.
Who pays for the bricks?
So far no one has answered where we draw the line at letting in and caring for illegals .If we could we should pay and help every single needy person in the world.

mrD
I guess you missed the parts in the treads where I pointed out this issue, underwear ,is merely one of several issues but is kinda emblematic of how we are throwing hundreds of millions at an issue we shouldn't be >
Are there other areas we shouldn't spend money on? Yes
But that does not offset or negateor mean we should NOTstop the huge problem here

Mr D
Yes This was a thread about American taxpayers buying hundreds of dozens of underwear for illegals. Why??
We have gone over some of the other issues stemming from the hordes of illegals streaming .
Each issue costs the taxpayer money, this is but the latest..

and for sure let's play the go back in history and blame game because that does so much to solve the problem.

I never agreed with Bush on immigration but he did not cause this lastest influx

I believe Reagan tried a huge amnesty deal. It doesn't work and we should learn from our past or we will be doomed to repeat it. Amnesty now will just mean Amnesty again in a few years or a decade if it is not paired with actual changes to the system that will make the whole situation cheaper and fair for most everyone.

Notice, "for most everyone" will not allow each case that involves a crying game to mean we will ignore the new rules that are to be put in place. Because if we don't allow our nation to be one ruled by laws we will raise the dress one day and find an unwelcome surprise.

I can say I had no idea this particular June would see our borders penetrated by such a surprising amount of people seemingly orchestrated by the otherwise individually subtle deceptions of the past few months, years.

They come here for opportunity and freedom from the crime in their countries. I do not blame them.

However, there is no reason to incentivize them to come by promoting policy of amnesty. I blame past and present administrations for not enforcing the immigration laws currently in place. Obama and the democrats have ramped up amnesty as a way of securing more dependent voters.

To blame the OP and others for pointing out the underwear debacle is patently stupid. It is only one small thing they are providing. the promise of healthcare, education and legal help will dwarf the money spent on basic necessities.

I am shocked at some of the posts here blaming average citizens for the immigration problem because they engage businesses that are using these workers. I guess those casting blame never eat out, have construction work done, eat vegetables or have landscaping done?

Honestly, you guys should run for federal office. You would fit in nicely.

Horn6721,

I'm not going back in history. I'm talking about a huge problem that's going on right now that exists primarily because of people you support.

You brought up Bush, not me. Yes, he's part of the problem too, but the biggest problem is people who are in power now, not Bush.

MrD

You accused me of supporting people who caused this problem.
Bush is the only one who I supported whose immigration policies would have worsened the situation.

Since you seem to know so much about who I support perhaps you can tell me which ones you referenced.

These are kids shipped by their parents. They are not seeking jobs now, but know if they are granted amnesty their future will include job opportunities.

I agree, penalize those who employ illegals. But also, actually prevent them crossing our borders and enforce deportation of those here illegally.

Were they sent here by their parents or are they coming to meet up with their parents who are already working her in the states? I'd argue the latter is a more common scenario.

I agree that you can't have 1 without the other. Neither the Dems or Repubs talk about cracking down on employers though.

My Dad used to work for a major cabinet manufacturer in Dallas. The plant was nearly 100% staffed with Mexicans. He used to laugh when he'd show up to work somedays in 50% of the Mexicans failed to show for work. That was a tip that INS was visiting that day. How did they know? Not from INS but from the company themselves. There'd be a line out the door the next day of new Mexicans with fake SSN cards ready to work. It was a quarterly cycle. The people that didn't show for work on the day the INS showed up would come back a few months later with a different SSN card. The company would look the other way and welcome "Joe" back.

Immigration is eerily similar to the drug war. As long as their is demand for the drugs there will be a supplier. As long as we have better paying and more readily available jobs illegal immigrants will pour across our border. It's impossible to stop them at the border just like the supply of drugs.

.................and if you elect me, I promise to make the illegals wear no underwear while in custody.

And once they are free, they will have to wear their undewear on the outside of their pants or skirts so we can see that they are wearing them and will have to pin the sales receipt to the underwear so we can see the government did not pay for them,

I am opposed to corruption and government waste, favor more spending for whatever you are in favor of and a tax cut. Make that two tax cuts.

It is one of the truisms re democracy that if there are countervailing forces, it is near impossible for anyone to take decisive strategic action.

Democracy in inaction.

Theo -- I remember when construction trades, carpentry, bricklaying, tiling, framing, roofing, etc. used to be a damned good way to make a living and people could maintain a middle class lifestyle with it. The fact that these are poverty-level occupations now I blame more on industry than on the illegals.

Reasons illegals come to the U.S. Reason #1 : To get themselves free stuff. Reason #2 : See rule #1.

I have never once met an illegal that moved here for free stuff. The conservative position on illegal immigration gets very distorted because of comments like this. The ones that get free stuff are the major builders that use under or uninsured subcontractors to dramatically reduce their costs. Also the republican politicians get free stuff in the form of campaign contributions to look the other way all while lying to you about how they are going to solve the problem. The guys that spend seven days a week on a 120 degree roof or building our roads in the Texas heat sure are working hard for whatever free stuff they get. Certainly harder than the politicians that play both sides of the debate.
