Washington vs Texas

I actually woke up with Burns loading the bases on a BB, HBP, & BB, no outs and they decided to bring A. Dup to the mound and my ptsd was in high gear. But he worked out of it, saved the game actually and then Grubbs closed the door the next inning.

Take away the Howard fiasco and this is a blow out. It's a good sign that our offense touched up Max Banks, he's been a decent pitcher till we torched him for 7 runs. Flores and Galvan finally woke up their bats. Let's hope they keep them hot all weekend.

Only player without a hit was Gas but he had (2) walks.

Only issue in the whole game was Howard unable to get an out and Burns starting off the 8th not finding the strike zone to load the bases.

Still not sure about this Howard guy.

I'd rather have the middle relief innings go to Tumis, Hudson Hamilton, Navarre, Moffett, Ethan Walker, Rerick, McCreary, etc.

Speaking of which, Ethan Walker showed up well in the Alumni game. We should start seeing him on the mound some.

Still don't know what the new Coaches have against Hudson Hamilton and Tumis. Those two have the nastiest stuff on this pitching staff.

DuP is a plus this year, not a minus.

Maybe I just can't get over memories of last-year Howard, but I'm nervous when he's in the game. I thought it was safe putting him in last night with an 8-run lead, but whether it's bad luck or poor pitching, it doesn't seem to work out well for Howard. Schloss sees something in him, saying in the post-game presser that he pitched okay.

Sometimes you’ve got a guy who throws strikes and has control, but the batters bash the crap out of him. That’s Howard.

What is done with a guy like that sometimes is to really work on his changeups. If he masters a changeup or two, then go to the changeups frequently. That keeps the batters off balance and less likely to tee off on him.
