Was the Execution of OBL a War Crime?

What is so bad about committing war crimes? They happen all the time and always will. War should be a crime itself it is so bad. It brings out the best in people but also the worse.

WW II was the "good war" but we intentionally firebombed Dresden and Cologne with the intention of killing scores of thousands of civilians. Want to dig up Churchill and Roosevelt and put them on trial?

Osama is dead. Good ******* riddance. And if the Germans don't like it, tell them to read a history book.

I particularly like the bit where Der Spiegel says that Obama hasn't had a lot of victories to crow about. When was the last time the Fatherland had one to boast about? Oh yes, that would be Buchenwald in 1945. **** them.

I am usually a staunch advocate for the rule of law - I believe it to me absolutely necessary, if nothing else than to maintain a moral superiority, that I, for one, prefer to keep.

However, this is one instance where, if it is in anyway a "crime," I don't give a crap.

I think even the staunchest critics of this mission agree - nobody's going to miss the guy.

Roma, I think my point is very well reasoned, and Rex,

The US does what it wants because it is the superpower. That doesnt make it right. Too many people here have self righteous attitudes and consistently want to look the other way when the US does the wrong thing.

Until we right our own ship, the problems we face overseas are not going to stop, ever.

Juan Williams just referred to it as a "Murder" on Chris Wallace's show on Fox. Thought that was interested. No one questioned him on it though.

Look, I'm a peacenik, a former beatnik, a former hippie, nearly a pacifist, I get tweets from the f'n Dahlai Lama on my cell phone. I don't like guns, I don't like wars, and would say I have opposed almost every U.S. military action since WWII.
But you can only push people so far, and even the most pacifistic will react violently. We watched live on TV as thousands of people were murdered by this scumbag's evil plan. Grandmothers, childrens, wives, husbands, all loved ones of many good people perished right before our eyes.
I personally could go out and kill this fiend. I would have to go to a gun store and learn which end of the weapon to use, but if that is a war crime, I would have to go on trial. And I don't think many Americans would feel any differently, nor would the majority of people worldwide.
