What a shame the feds are delaying oking the building of the pipeline from border for political purposes since it would mean so many immedeiate jobs
I think most people would have a hard time believing anything the Feds ' promise" for the future
am I reading this right? that the feds say they will ok the pipeline later?

This is where I got the idea that Canada would build a pipeline west to send oil the China

Oil companies complain that they are losing revenues from pipeline bottlenecks. So Canada is plunging ahead with plans to build more pipelines of its own.
To hasten development of new export routes, the Conservative government is streamlining permit processes by accelerating scheduled hearings and limiting public comment. The government has also threatened to revoke the charitable status of environmental groups that are challenging the projects. And Public Safety Canada, the equivalent of the United States Department of Homeland Security, has classified environmentalists as a potential source of domestic terrorism, adding them to a list that includes white supremacists.
After President Obama refused to grant a permit for Keystone XL in January, Stephen Harper, Canada’s prime minister, indicated that he would never again be “held hostage” to United States politics, saying that some Americans saw his country as “one giant national park.” He said Canada would redirect oil that had been destined for Gulf Coast refineries to other countries, particularly China."

Actually this is probably right anyway. There are huge bottlenecks right now through Cushing and down into the Gulf Coast. Canadian crude is subject to big price differentials anyway and shipping west would make a lot of sense. It would allow Canada to price off of Brent crude vs. West Texas Intermediate which has a $10-$15/bbl differential right now. Plus, there has been another huge oil find in Canada in Alberta which will just add to that pressure.

That "piece" you quote is full of all kinds of speculation based on theoretical performance and hypothetical scenarios.
And to whoever brought up the 444 embassy hostages in 1979, come on man, the CIA and US was in Iran for 25 years propping up a puppet. How did you expect the revolutionaries to respond? With flowers and chocolates and a nice wave goodbye? They were pissed.
And how would I feel if Iran actually had nukes? The same way I feel about North Korea and China and Russia and Pakistan and India and Israel having nukes. That is to say, just deal with it. I can tell you though, we arent talking about bombing any of those countries or invading them. Gee I wonder why..... its a pretty clear message to everyone else, isnt it?

Some of you need to wake up and smell the uranium (I'm looking at you 2003). War with Iran was virtually assured several years ago when the UN let their inspectors get kicked out and failed to put any bite behind their bark. Stuxnet and the "mystery" killings of scientists were a last-ditch effort to avoid a shooting war. Unless there is something similar (and more effective) in the pipeline, it is just a matter of time until the bombing starts. Again, this has been unfolding in very predictably since the UN was proven to be a paper tiger.
So to answer the OP, it doesn't matter what I want. War against Iran will happen if there is no other way to prevent them from getting the bomb, and everyone who has been an adult and paying attention for the last decade or so knows that.

Iran is attempting to goad Israel into a war because it is slowly crumbling from within. It has overreached in Syria and Iraq and with the Hezbollah and sanctions have taken their toll. A war with Israel would consolidate its base and if Israel does not go to war, Iran will become a nuclear power. With nuclear weapons, Iran can take control of nearby oil fields and can arm Palestinians and Hezbollah without fear of retaliation.
Israel knows this. The question is how to delay Iran's nuclear arms race long enough for the regime to fall. Or alternatively, to expedite the fall of the Iraqi regime. Time is running short though.

Iran is a signatory to the Non Proliferation Treaty which guarantees them the right to enrich Uranium for nuclear power. It is their national right to do what they are doing, legally.
Other countries, like Israel, tell the IAEA to go screw themselves, wont allow inspectors and wont sign the NPT.
And thank you for bringing up stuxnet and assassinations. Not only is Iran entitled to nuclear power legally, they have to endure terrorist attacks on their legal nuclear program.

Iran is using the cover of peaceful nuclear energy to enrich uranium to higher and higher levels. While Ahmadinejad hasn't explicitly said that Iran is seeking to wipe Israel off the map with nuclear weapons, it doesn't take much brains to connect the multitude of existing dots to reach this conclusion. For years, Iran has funded and supplied radical Hezbollah and Hamas militias in their numerous raids/attacks against Israel. Ahmadinejad has repeatedly expressed his utter contempt and hatred for Israel (Little Satan) and the United States (Great Satan). Iran has developed longer and longer range ballistic missiles, which can now reach southeastern Europe. Iran openly admits it is now enriching uranium to 20% (but it's only for medical purposes, they say), while moving all of their centrifuges underground into hardened sites. Pundits such as Joel Rosenberg say that Ahmadinejad believes in a Shia Islamic "end times" eschatology in which the arrival of their Twelfth Imam (Mahdi) can be hastened by destroying Israel.
