Wade

Wade gets a 4 point play at the end of the game with no contact at all. Dirk and Durant were getting a ton of contact with no calls down the stretch ot their series, but Wade can just go up for jumpers, kick his foot out a bit and get a call. He doesn't even have to fall down anymore like he used to. Amazing. Gives me a bad feeling going into the finals. In Dallas, we've all seen this before.

Did you watch the play mentioned, or are you just running your mouth? It appears you are just running your mouth if you thought that was a 4 point play foul.

How about LeBron James dramatically throwing himself backwards and grimacing wihle holding his hand over his eye, drawing a foul on a guy who didn't even touch his head in the slighest? That was pathetic.

As long as it is called consistently on both sides of the floor and from game to game I am fine with it. Joey Crawford for one has been known to call more touchy fouls.

Bomber - You need to re-read the OP. The play he was referencing has already occurred in the bulls-heat series.

Sheesh. Mavs haters already crying about Mavs fans before even a second has been played.

Now that IS a new record.

it really is ridiculous. they showed a replay and all rose did was hit wade on the elbow and they call a foul? like that's in the rulebook suddenly.

and the overall calls wade got in that series versus watching durant and dirk struggle to get calls. disgusting. look at durant, who absolutely did not take a ton of long jumpers, only getting to the line 49 times in 5 games. that's not even 10 a game! and dirk, the relentless driver, a guy not known for his fadeaway and face up jumpers, only scraped together 61 free throws. only 12.2 per game. one game he only shot 24 free throws. give him a fair ref and that's 47 easy.

meanwhile, dwyane wade aka mr. finesse, the jumper specialist takes a whopping 35 free throws in his 5 game series. 7 a game! compared to dirk's mere 62. where is the justice. can you say rigged?

Dirk takes it to the hole a ton more then Wade. He's also a tougher matchup. He did get a ton of calls in game 1, but it was pretty consistent as so did Durant. Then the rest of the series it was completely different.

As to the play in question, Wade was not hit on the elbow. For starters if you're hit on the elbow on a 3, the ball is going to come up short as you can't get the right follow through.

There was a play earlier in the playoffs where Wade goes up, kicks his defender in the gut to get separation, falls down, and still gets an and 1. Just saying he gets more chicken **** calls then anyone I have seen that is presently playing in the league. He's perfected the flop and refs buy into it big time. He's a great player, but he sure doesn't need any help.

Next thing you know, the Mavs fans will be bitching about Danny Crawford again, when he did a really good job when he was assigned to Mavs games in the playoffs. Oh well ...

Anyone that watches the NBA knows it's kinda WWFish. The officiating is not all that different from the Harlem Globetrotters of old. Sure, the teams play hard and pour their guts out for the ring. In the end however, the officials often determine the winner of these mini-dramas. Yes Wade got the official nod (or wink) in his last finals appearance. He shot 47 free throws in games 5-6. My guess is we'll see more of the same. Dirk got Wade like calls in game 1 vs Thunder and shot 24 FTs. It turned in games 2-5 and he had to earn his points even though OKC was very physical with him. Most would prefer neither team or players receive favorable calls and numerous FTs. The game slows to boring tease and limits any display of skills. The only ones who like it are hard nose fans of those receiving the favoritism or haters of the other. Plenty of Mav haters still say Wade was indeed hammered 30 times in those last 2 games while Dirk was hardly touched. Same breed of fan that felt OJ didn't get a favorable call also.

Wade has always been one to take it to the basket. Why wouldn't he, the refs give him a lot of positive reinforcement. Maybe with Dirk, the refs figure he is so slow that the quick handed defenders had plenty of time to get just ball

I don't understand that - don't the games get the biggest ratings on the weekends? So why start on a Tuesday night?

The TV schedule has sucked thus far. I don't think they had a s game scheduled the last couple of Fridays. Then they roll out games on saturday and Sunday in late primetime. Gametimes at 8pm on Sunday evenings just makes no sense to me. Put the game on in the afternoon already, at least on Sundays.

It is almost like they don't want young kids to be able to watch.

In addition, in the last 2 series we saw Chicago/Miami go like 5 days without playing a game and OKC/Dallas played 2 games during that no play stretch. I didn't understand that.

these are the two main issues.

1. stopping Wade

2. the refs.

Karma should be on the Mavs side. shouldn't be a 150 to 100 free throw discrepancy this time. imo, the Mavs should play a zone and if there is such a thing as a box in 1 on Wade, they should do it.

If I had to choose, I would make Chris Bosh, etc. beat me.

one other thing, I re-read some of the articles about the previous series, I had forgotten that Stackhouse missed game 5, for some reason I thought he missed game 4.

Jerry should never have missed a game. horrible call

Anyone notice on the last shot Wade goes up, misses and falls down trying to get a phantom foul call. Thankfully the refs didn't call that or Cuban might have imploded.

Okay....Im gonna go ahead and say it.

Dwayne Wade has been made into this amazing basketball player almost solely because of the 2006 Finals.

HE IS NOT AS GOOD AS THE MEDIA MAKES HIM OUT TO BE.

Dont get me wrong.

He's one of the top 5 to 10 players in the league.
He is very, very good

But the Mavs and refs made him look like Jordan incarnate in 2006 and he's carried that reputation for the past 5 years.

D-Whistle has only played on three good teams his whole career; 2005, 2006 and 2011.

Without Shaq or Lebron James.......Dwayne Wade would be thought of as Gilbert Arenas or Tracy McGrady.

I realize its silly to say that after he had such a good game last night......but when the game is reffed fairly he is not so superhuman.

In 2006 he shot 97 free throws in 6 games. Thats an amazing number for a shooting guard.

NB - You are right on, man. Definitely over-rated. Without the phanton foul calls in 2006, Wade does not create the superhuman perception. He is just a really good shooting guard, but should not be considered a true game changer (unless the refs make him one).

And as the clock hits zero to end the greatest meltdown in NBA Finals history, where was d wade???
Flopping to the floor looking at the ref with the same expression your dog uses when he is begging for a treat.

I don't get the whole "Wade has only had 2-3 great teams" deal - yes, he dropped off without Shaq and then his team wasn't very good until LeBron came. Kobe dropped off without Shaq and then his team wasn't very good until Gasol came.

Wade in 2009 & 2010 averaged 28 points (on 20 shots), 5 rebounds, and 7 assists per game. Kobe in 2006 and 2007 averaged 33 points (on 25 shots), 6 rebounds, and 5 assists per game.

For their careers, Kobe is at 25 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 46% FGs while Wade is at 25 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 48% FGs.
