vs TTech

Awesome game, almost turned terribly bad again. Roach was amazing from the point where he wasn't putting up the wild shots he has a tendency to at times. He left that up to O tonight.

Shaka needs to be a little smarter as a coach when they get the big leads. I know you want to put a dagger in the other team, but they can't do it by shooting the 3. O took a nice shot when they had the big lead but it was just the wrong time. Once they go up by 12 or so, Shaka should just call timeout and design a play that goes inside with Coleman driving to the basket. IMHO. Stop letting the other team cut into the lead by taking bad shots and having those freaking easy turnovers.

Interesting not to see Young on the court tonight. Did I miss him? Well, not necessarily a bad thing, IMHO.

Horns should be no worse that tied for 2nd right now. WVU will be a tough test, but I can see Snoop shutting down the WVU stud. Should be another hard fought low scoring affair. Win this one and no telling what they can do the rest of the way.

Roach finally plays to his potential.
Most of the time I wonder why he is on the court.
Great game by him considering he was coming off an injury to his hand,

I've learned that I shouldn't watch games. I turned on the OSU game and immediately started the collapse. I keep this one turned off, and we crank out our best performance in conference play.
LOL^^^ Now that Prodigal knows what to when the games are on, we should go undefeated the rest of the way!! I was wondering what had been causing the sudden, explainable rash of Horn turnovers in the second half all season!!:smile1:

Great win!!

uisge beatha, it was you and me tonight. We brought the Horns through in good shape!! :hookem2:

I was here in spirit and have to admit something. We were up by 13 with around 11 minutes left and the wheels fell off when Tech got the lead down to 3 points with around 7 minutes left. All of those same thoughts were going through my head about freezing up and giving up double digit lead in the last ten. I rolled over and went to sleep. I just couldn't take another collapse in the final minutes.

Maybe this team is starting to figure it out. Roach being back was a huge influence in the game.

The Big 12 is just sick this year. No game is easy and road wins are scarce.

The good news is that the Big 12 is getting national respect and teams under .500 in conference games can still make it to the big dance.

Awesome win against Tech :hookem: the Texas resume just got a major upgrade

Just re watched the game. It was better the second time. I wasn't bouncing off the walls and throwing socks at the TV when the Horns started turning it over and losing their poise in the last 10 minutes. Knowing all will be well at the end sure helps lower my blood pressure. Not to mention the destruction leveled on my house.

I owe Smart an apology. The team is getting better, if last night is any indication.
Simms is really getting it. Febres is getting it. Coleman is getting it. Bamba is getting it. ROACH played under control, made smart, yes really smart, decisions and had only one TO.

Bamba had his best overall game. Did not commit dumb fouls. Played mostly down at the post where he is dominant. The double block on the ttu big man at the 8:40 mark was incredible.

O is playing very well.

Davis is BACK. He is a leader. He's a coach on the court now.

And I like Shaka's lineup rotations. I like the big lineup with Simms, O, and Bamba to start the game, with Coleman and Roach guards. Then rotating Simms out and Bringing in Davis for scoring and stretching opponents' defense to the arc and opening ally oop opportunities. Three guards while still two really good bigs down low. And if one of the Bigs is O then you have 4 legit threats from the arc. And as long as Roach is on the floor then the potential for ally oop lobs includes your two or three bigs, and Roach.

The remaining conference games will be really tight. All games are a tossup, whether its WVU, or ksu, or osu, or ku.

Fasten the seat belt and hold on.

Yes, there is something to what you say. But the worst stretch, for me, was in the second half with about 7-9 minutes left and we had three unforced turnovers in three straight possessions, and ttu took full avantage reeling off three scores in a row.

I don't blame Shaka for that. But he is going to have to drill the guys to prepare them for pressure. The guys lost concentration, and were careless with the ball. They were not mentally ready for ttu's rush. The guys have to learn to expect that and maintain focus when the pressure comes.

Getting more people in the rotation clearly helped down the stretch. I'm hearing a lot of observers blame the collapses on lack of depth, and there may be something to that. You just can't play seven guys and expect to be tough down the stretch.

Hoping he continues to grow quality depth, which we still don't quite have yet.
