Just saw this and wasn't sure it had been posted before...

Titans quarterback Vince Young has gone back to college.

An official at the registrars office at The University of Texas said Friday Young is enrolled for the spring semester and is currently taking classes as a full-time student. Being a full-time student requires taking at least 12 hours.

Agent Major Adams said Young wants to get his degree and is roughly two semesters short. The plan is for Young to take classes this spring, and again next spring.

Young has some company on the Austin, Texas, campus. Titans safety Michael Griffin, who recently finished his first NFL season, is also enrolled and taking classes as a full-time student.

It's a shame that all the college girls will lilkely consider him too old to date. Poor fellow.

Seriously, congrats to Vince on a great decision!

He had the same girlfriend in HS and all through his days at Texas. I am assuming they are still together. Anyone know for sure?

This is worthless to me. Getting a degree in liberal arts won't help VY be a better NFL QB. I think it's admirable that he's working on his degree but doesn't mean a thing in the long run.

it obviously means something to him. also, our university requires its coaches to have a degree, so it may mean something in the long run if he would want to pursue coaching after his career is over.

mpt:

He has to come back to Austin to recharge his mojo. Back in Austin he will remember how great he really is and go back to Tennessee and kick butt !!!

could grow any more. Superman may have been the first underclassman to leave early on Mack but this shows the ultimate class this man has. We're proud of you VY!!!

I hope I get receivers to throw to!

Way to go Vince!!

On another note, It's amazing to me to see how people can turn even something positive like this into a negative. Some of the comments posted under that article were laughable, as well as the genius post on this thread earlier. How can anybody call him selfish or cast negative opinions for him returning to get his degree? F the haters!

I thought he's not eligible for basketball because he's received money from professional sports now. Much like Jeremy Bloom couldn't play sport X because he received money for an endorsement in sport Y.

Then again, it's not especially common for NCAA football players to have played some minor league baseball, so I'm not quite sure what the rule says. Maybe that's ok b/c it's minor league and not major league, so it only prohibits them from playing baseball in college?

Guys like Cedric Benson and Quan Cosby received money to play a professional sport (baseball) even with a minor league team....and then played in a different sport (football) as an amateur.

I believe the question with Jeremy Bloom had to do with receiving money, not to ski, per se, but from advertising concerns and perhaps, endorsements? Perhaps salaries earned are acceptable professionally, but endorsement money is not.

Therefore, my guess is VY has exhausted his eligibility.
