is there any indication of when/if the AD is going to cover up the back of the godzillatron? I'm assuming they're simply figuring out the best layout to accommodate the most sponsor logos on it. i'd love to walk up to the stadium and see a simple white backing with a huge horn logo in the middle, no words, nothing else.

Doubt they'll use sponsor ads. DKR-TMS is one of the VERY few stadiums with no permanent advertising on it. They just light it up on game days.

i was half-heartedly joking about the sponsors, but given the opportunity, i wouldn't be surprised to see the Taco Bell menu printed up on the video board backing, so we'll all know what to order when we pass through the gates.

wouldn't a Home Depot tattoo be more relevant considering the color schematics? This would also increase the Aggie Home Depot boycot rants.

It will be done next off-season. The Statesman ran an article in Feb. saying that $25 million had been approved for the backing to Godzilliatron, the semi-permanent SEZ bleachers, and some interior work on the west side, all to be done before the start of the 2009 season.

A giant burnt orange nike logo would be ok with me. Serve as advertising and is still pretty much about the team. However, I hope its a giant longhorn

As danny1010 points out, money ($150,000 if I remember correctly) has already been allocated for a backing. This would indicate no sponsorship.

Anyway, a few weeks ago someone on here posted an email he sent to Deloss about the use of ads within the stadium, especially on Godzillatron.

He got a polite response saying that he understood the sentiment about keeping the amount of ads to a reasonable number. And that he would keep that in mind with all of the renovations. He said specifically that the backing would be the classic longhorn logo. I don't mean to steal someone's story, but I can't find the post or the user.

He also pointed out that DKR is the only stadium in the Big XII without any fixed ads on the stadium structure. (True, but also ticky tacky since all of our ads are now electronic... Godzillatron and ribbon boards.)

Personally, I'd love to see a big Texas flag along the back. It's a rectangle already and I love the "We're TEXAS" attitude.
