Veterans vs Immigrants: treatment difference?

Should the government be consistent in the way it operates? Close the areas for some people but not for others? Should we be surprised that the Executive Branch is playing favorites?

Is this the same as giving some unions a waiver on Obamacare while others don't get a waiver? Similar to choosing to enforce some laws while letting others have lax enforcement?(immigration for instance)

Should we just assume that our government is not accountable and take it? Should I expect to be audited for daring to question why there is not fairness in the application of their rules?

Dems/libs always cater to their constituants. They require an underclass to be able to stay in office. These constituants don't even realize that they were created and maintained by the dems/libs for just that purpose. Dems/libs don't give a damn about the country or its survival. They are hellbent on destroying it.

Apparently the park police had to pick up the trash the illegals left behind since there aren't any maintenance workers to do it

Why do they never pick up their own trash?

^^^The same reason they don't discipline their children. They don't give a sh*t because that's the way they did it back in Mexico.

dillo
well to be fair there were plenty of Dems there as well
and they apparently didn't pick anything up either

shows how much THEY care for the American people's Mall.
It takes taxpayer money to fund the clean ups etc. If they paid taxes in I would hope they would have policed it themselves
OR for God's sake common sense and decency should have kicked in so they didn't just throw crap down.

The only thing worse than BO, are the morons that voted for him. The U.S. can survive Obama, but it cannot survive the people that voted for him.

6721....We lived in McAllen for 5 years. The Rio Grand Valley is like the 3rd world. No class, no morals, no manners, no common sense, no personal hygiene, and no I.Q. Virtually all Hispanic and democratic ( we moved there to retire and found it was unlivable for anyone else).

I'm totally against the double standard on the illegal alien rally and the WWII vet situation. However, this thread says so much about what's wrong with the GOP and why it's losing ground in so many areas, and it has nothing to do with the merits of illegal immigration, border security, amnesty or anything substantive at all. It's all about tone.

Deez.....Be white and go buy a home in the Rio Grand Valley. Live there for 5 years and you'll very quickly find out how it would feel to be black in 1950 Mississippi.

Went to high school in the Valley and was always treated well by Mexicans.

Every Mexican I knew liked whites okay. They all pretty much despised blacks though.

if you were referring to me implying I said Hispanics littered and didn't pick up after rally reread My posts.
plus look back at any Dem/ Lib rallies or even ' occupys"
the lack of respect for public surroundings is astonishing.
Nothing absolutely ZERO to do with ethnicity
it seems to have more to do with attitude by the people there, as if it is someone else's job to pick up after them.
and BTW being illegal is not limited to Hispanics.

I have pretty much give up on the immigration issue. Its hard for me to pick a side in this shitstorm. Neither side cares about border security or the poor individuals looking for a better life. One side wants votes and the other wants cheap labor that wont sue them or ask for overtime pay. It has become a complete wedge issue that nobody wants to solve because they wouldn't be able to use it to rally their base anylonger. At least the dems are up front about their intentions. The republicans will denounce illegal immigration in public then do everything they can to keep it going behind closed doors.

It's enough to slam the hypocrisy and it's even okay to comment on trashing up the National Mall but I don't think you should ascribe these traits across a population. There are trashy people across every race and culture.

I think you could discuss sociopolitical differences across nations without using a harsh tone.

I personally welcome more people from Mexico into the US. I love the culture. l love the food. I love the people. I have grown up with, gone to school, church and work with many my whole life.

At the same time, I don't want one person in this country illegally. I know that will never be reality, but laws should be followed and respected. Societies and nations don't grow prosperous by ignoring the rule of law. It hurts a nation to act preferentially for or against any subset of people.

Please. Everyone be for Mexican people and against people living in our country illegally. You can do both. It's not that hard.

Monah
Actually I would guess the overwhelming majority of people feel exactly as you do.
But people tend to remember and magnify the inpact of people who use Mexicans as the only people who are here illegally.

We should increase the numbers of legals we let in and we should enforce the existing laws which would make it difficult for illegals to stay here and employers to hire them

most counts put the immigrant numbers around 60% mexican so it is predominantly a mexican issue, with another 15-20% being from the rest of central/south america, so it is primarily a hispanic issue.

Having said that, individually most of these are probably ok folks. As a group they bring the crapiest aspects of their culture with them.

I don't want the US to be more hispanic. I don't want more mexican restaurants, more signs in spanish, more people taking off on cinco de mayo. I want them to adopt our culture when they come. It is our culture that has been the most successful over the last hundred years. It is the individual responsibility culture that propels the US to greater heights. It can at times go too far but the culture of 'take care of me' is certainly not the answer either.

Most immigrants are here for a better life and are risking a fair amount to do it. Some even contribute substantially by the 2nd or 3rd generation. And I'm for letting in as much as we can handle legally and without damaging our middle class and lower class that are already citizens.

I'm happy to have my relatives over for christmas but even that has limits. I can only afford and I only have room for so many. The same applies for immigration.

We can find the appropriate equilibrium by making business responsible for sponsoring an immigrant. You need a new ag worker...pony up $1500 for him to be vetted and ensure he can speak 3rd grade english. You need a new IT worker ...pony up $5000 to ensure that you are not undercutting the current middle classs work force.

Business would then have to put up or shut up. Is it about not having the available labor, or is it about wanting that labor to be cheap?

The problem is that republicans say that and Hispanics take it as demeaning to their culture and then vote democrat. It isn't exactly a welcoming message.
