Very impressed in spring game...

in 2007, the average yard line for kickoffs landing was the 10. Only 11% of kicks went for touchbacks.

Hardly anyone consistantly puts the ball into the endzone.

I think Justin Tucker is going to be our guy as far as kicking goes. He came out of high school early, and at the scrimmage he put at least two inside the five yard line. His rivals highlight video shows him blowing kick after kick out the back, but in college the tee is 10 yards further back. I think he is going to be a great thing for us come fall.

I'm as big a texas football fan as they come. I've been to many past springs games, O go to several August practice sessions, I'm loud throughout games, travel to many away games etc. (Just had to preface with that so I don't get killed with my observation.)

Was it the defense that was that good, or did our offense just suck that bad? Errant passes, repeated attempts at end-arounds, lackluster RB performance other than that one bulldozer, and I thought our LB's looked pretty weak.

Was I the only one that got bored? Were my expectations too high? I gladly left early when my buddy suiggested we beat the crowds out the stadium.

I agree. The hang time was there, but a few of the kicks didn't get quite enough distance. Of course there is room to improve, but I really don't think the punting was poor.

It seemed to me that during warm-up they were concentrating on placement punting rather than hang-time and distance. I recall seeing the punters kicking toward the north end zone and trying to get the ball to die inside the 5 yard line.

I've read all over the interwebs that the defense was the shining star of the spring game, but I can't help but wonder if a lackluster offensive performance was to blame.
