UTRGV game - crash and burn

Then he didn't need to be out there. Walks and hit batters destroyed that inning. How does a blue blood baseball program get to a place where we have zero pitching and have to put guys in that have no business being there?

Honestly, it was probably Pierces best option to close the door on that inning and Dup couldn't come through. Dup has actually performed well in short stints up until tonight.

This is unbelievable. We don't have a pitcher that can actually pitch besides Ace and Ace wouldn't be a starter on any team in the SEC.

(no disrespect to Ace)

What's funny to me is strong Pierce supporters maintain that Pierce isn't responsible for a pitcher throwing balls. Not sure how that works cause he most definitely is.

He recruits and directly coaches them. He is most directly responsible for this **** show.

Update:

Harrison comes in to start the inning. Current status?? Bases loaded and HBP to score another run. 11-1 UTRGV. Another pitching change. Hudson Hamilton.

We have pitched every major reliever we have and we can't throw strikes. Hudson comes in and his first 2 pitches are balls.

And Hamilton walks the first batter he faces. 12-1 UTRGV.

At what point does Pierce just change pitchers when the first pitch is a ball?

Pierce should resign, this staff isn't a good staff in Div. II.

To use a variation of one of Royal's lines: May not be the worst team in history, but definitely doesn't get far down the list to get to this team.

7 pitchers from the bullpen in under 5 innings, 16 free bases given in that time and a total 178 pitches!!

Yeah, even if the offense climbs back and wins this game, it doesn't change the problems with this pitching staff. We really suck.

Tonight is a new low that we didn’t even know this team was capable of setting. As embarrassing a performance as I can ever recall. :whiteflag:

Ok, for some reason my TV started the recording from the beginning. I finally tune in to see that Howard hit a batter. At least we are consistent.

I nominate Heston Tole for a statue to be built in his honor for starting 0-2 on his first batter faced on this date, April 16, 2024. Ensure this statue has big balls too cause no one else had the balls to throw strikes counting 8 different pitchers. :smokin:
