UT vs WVU

missed the first half sitting in traffic. Ibeh with 3 blocks and a technical. Horns shooting 7-12 from the arc. E. Davis leading all scorers with 15. 9 point half time lead. The drum is a tough place to get a W.

I'm not at home so I checked Twitter, Davis is lighting it up tonight. Four-of-four on 3 pointers.

Ibeh just got his third foul at the 19 minute mark in the second half. He is reverting back to the dumb foul making Ibeh. We may be able to beat wvu with their two starting guards injured tonight, but we will need Ibeh against the Bu front line. He needs to regain the focus he showed in the streak of games in late Jan.

Texas shot the best they had all season to close the second half.

Texas post players having a real tough time avoiding fouls.

Refs calls are very shaky, for both sides

Ibeh was sluggish on his feet all night and got frustrated by some pretty good Mountaineer post play. I gotta give him props for 6 blocks though.

Any way you slice it, it's still another win over a top ten team. It wasn't always pretty, but it was plenty good enough.

Texas may have taken their foot off the pedal a little early. It did give the freshman chances to shoot and make freethrows in a pressure situation and they did.

The freshman really contributed tonight and the experience they are gaining is immeasurable for the future. That future looks pretty bright for them and Longhorn Basketball.

It seems like Coach Smart is always in teaching mode, even in big games. This just keeps solidifying Texas into post season play, hopefully with the return of Ridley, for an extra boost.

Just finished watching the game (these 4:00 starts are havoc w/ my schedule). Enjoyable game. Good fighting back after early first quarter deficit. Even holding the 12 - 15 point lead, I was nervous the whole game - with good reason as it turns out. Glad to see them hit the FT to close it out. What was their final percentage? The announcers said 81% before Taylor hit his last string.

I don’t know the overall game % but Roach and Davis went 4-4 in the final minute.

10-22 from three point range for the game. 38 points from the bench, the highest total in Big 12 play so far.

Last game, both teams had a lot of trouble hitting shots, especially WVU. This game, both teams were lights out for the most part, especially Texas. Hah, go figure.

Prince had a tough game tonight, or at least in comparison to his standards as of late. However, like @txlandagent pointed out, got 6 blocks, some of which were semi-crucial, and was going up against a really good post player for WVU.

Isaiah answered the bell by being flawless from the line (which ended up being one of the biggest deciding factors in the game after a lackadaisical finish by the horns) and putting forth really good guard play.

This was probably the most complete game the Texas guards had played all season. WVU's bread and butter is forcing turnovers and pressure, and I'm not sure Texas could've handled it much better than they did all game.

Lastly, and probably the most encouraging thing, was that it was the other team that got a fast start, and Texas that looked rattled and unprepared at the beginning. WVU was up 12-4 at one point, and Prince earned a very uncharacteristic tech at the start of the game. Good to see Texas keep their composure all 40 min and win against a REALLY good and talented Mountaineer team.

Huggins is a phenomenal coach, but for some reason Texas just has his number. 1-6 vs. Texas since the beginning of the 2013-14 season

Another huge win in this ridiculously stacked league where it seems like every game is against a top 20 team. Sitting on 17 wins with 5 to play is a great place to be. Need to win at least 2 of last 5 and winning 3 would be awesome. :bevo:

Three of our last 5 games are against ranked opponents assuming Baylor maintains their ranking - all three at home. Therefore, I'm believing we can win all 5 (undefeated against ranked opponents at home)! OK, maybe slightly optimistic :hookem2:

Texas was 25-30 from the charity stripe and shot 48% on the three balls.

The Horns didn't turn the ball over much and beat WVU at their own game in that respect.

The only real negative stat was due mostly to Ibeh getting in early foul trouble, that was that WVU outrebounded the Horns in a big way.

NB, That was the Davis I have been looking for. We need him.

Baylor beats ISU in overtime 100-91.

This means Baylor will remain ranked and are tied with Texas for 4th place in the Big 12 at 8-5.

All three remaining home games will be against ranked teams and the last two could be against top ten teams, in OU and Kansas.

These are the only two teams that the Horns haven't already beaten in conference play.

The two remaining road games are against unranked KSU and OSU.

Great game Texas Men's and Coaching Staff.
I wish so bad, that Coach Aston would use his play book on Defense.
Coach Smart gave you everything.Love the way he throw a Press, on a pressing team.

I'm pretty sure he was talking about over the course of the whole schedule that Ridley has been hurt.

Right off the top of my head, I would think of that one home loss to UConn, the road losses at TCU and Tech.

Maybe the OU game.

I know NBHorn7. I was just kidding... I agree that we would have had at least 2 extra wins if Ridley hadn't got injured. Probably even 3 or 4 extra wins.

Which was basically my pre-season "nostalgia" prediction that this would be a Pender's reduex type season: 24-9, in a 2 or 3 way tie for third, and at least one win in both the conference and NCCA tournaments, with home crowds over the 10,000 mark in the last month of the season. No way am I comparing this team to the BMW Runnin Horns, just the results, the life returning to the Drum, et al. This is a tough *** league to make a living in and just wait till Tubby gets the dumpster fire on the high plains fixed. WVA is a legit team that did not play badly and we took their best punch (literally with Huggin's gang of thugs), responded with a young, young team. I will be redundant that games like this are borne of Shaka using TCU loss as a learning tool that will make this team better and better, smarter and smarter when it matters. The upside to this ball club is immeasurable. Even a March swoon would still make this season a body of work that shows where we could be headed.
