UT vs wvu

Oh boy. This is going to be a very tough game. I watched some of the wvu - ou game and it was a heavy weight slugfest. wvu is big, fast, can shoot, can guard. Lots of big bodies in the post that can play. Sounds like what we will be in a couple of years.

Anyway this will be a huge test for our guys. Go Horns!!! Good luck to our young guns. Got a feeling we will need all the luck we can beg, borrow or steal.

Tonight is going to be an all out Press war. Wily veteran (Huggy) vs. salty upstart (Shaka). Who will wreak the most Havoc? They're calling it the "Throwwwwwdownnnnnnn in Morgantownnnnn!!!!"... you have to say it just like that...

We need to not shoot sub .300 from the arc. I think we'll live or die by the 3 ball tonight. Good luck indeed gents.:bevo:

Gonna need a big night from the senior leaders. Lammert will have to step up big on defense, and Felix will have to be on late if it's a close game. Not to mention, some how Texas has got to figure out how to play against a 3-2 defense.

I'm sick of being pissed all the time, so I'm gonna try out being optimistic and see how that works. :hookem:

More fouls than points.

Not a knock against Texas whatsoever, but this new trend of more fouls being called in college basketball is making it hard to watch...

Also interesting that the team pressing (the team at home) is averaging 25 fouls per game and only has 4 called on them so far. The team averaging 18 already has 9 called on them. Hmmm.....

Wow, sloppy half by both teams, but good for Texas to stay focused until the end. 28-25 Horns lead. Texas has already been called for 14 fouls, but maybe that's strategy, because WVU has hit a whopping 6 of 18 freethrows

Some really ugly ball all the way around. Roach is playing like he's in 8th grade. Taylor has more rebounds than Ibeh or Cleare. We're only in this because WVU is playing the worst basketball I've seen them play all season.

That's the kind of win that can get this team dancing in March!

All the bigs in foul trouble made it look bleak, at the end.

Horns really mucked the game up with some great defense. Have always heard you press a pressing team and it did cause WVU some real problems at times.

So much for not winning a road game this year.

Like I said, the seniors had to step up, and they sure did! More like veterans.

Felix with huge shots and made all his free-throws (minus the lane violation freebie)
Lammert got tons of huge boards when the rest of the bigs were in foul trouble
Yancy (junior, but a veteran no less) came out of nowhere to have a humongous game

What a performance. Probably safe to say we didn't face West Virginia's best tonight, but at times, neither did Texas (not to mention one of Texas's best is injured). So regardless, to go into Morgantown and do what's necessary, proud of these boys.

I've doubted and doubted, but they've found ways to win down the stretch lately. Right when it looked like WVU was going to get a late lead and take this one away from them, Texas closes on a 7-0 run toward the end. Unreal:hookem:

Huge win for March purposes.

I thought before tonight that somehow Texas needed to go 7-7 over these last 14 games to lock in a berth, but finding those 7 wins when you look at the schedule is tough. This is one of those type of games they needed to find a way to win to get to 18 wins and lock up a berth and they did it. Need to find at least 6 more.

Texas could be tied for first place, if Baylor loses to KSU tonight in Waco. Who would have thought this team would ever be in this position.

KSU leads Baylor 39-35 with 16 minutes to go.

This was a great win. And they won in such an unexpected (for this team) way. Taylor had a terrible shooting night. Most of his points were from the free throw line. But he handled the ball well, few turnovers, distributed well; and the guards broke the press time after time.

But really, defense won this game. Totally stifled WVU. Yeah, wvu was off shooting, but give the credit to a GREAT defensive effort by the good guys.

I am now on Ibeh's bandwagon. He didn't score much, terrible from the line; but did not commit too many dumb fouls. Did not foul out. Made the bigs from wvu take tough shots.

And if anybody really needed to hear this (which I don't think anybody does, but I just like typing it) Shaka Smart is doing a great job.

And I wouldn't be surprised if Ibeh's alley oop lob dunk makes it on Sports Center.

CONGRATS HORNS!!

Double overtime now in Waco, tied at 66.

Baylor wins to go into first place.

Some really ugly ball all the way around. . . . We're only in this because WVU is playing the worst basketball I've seen them play all season.

I think that this was because we played some excellent defense. Our press slowed down their offense and shortened the time they had to execute their half court offense. Horns largely controlled the pace of the game and it showed in WV's poor execution of their offense. Great coaching job by Coach Smart. :bevo:

Texas could only reach this point because they came to the "fork in the road," in Morgantown.

They came to the Slauson Cutoff and got out and cut off their slauson.
