UT softball pitcher Barnhill to transfer

No one "wins" the Ronald McDonald tournament. It is an exposure tournament ( a round robin). Lots of teams go undefeated there, but don't "win" the tournament. About half the teams there aren't any good anyway, the other half are very good. The tournament the Blaze qualified in Tulsa had 6 berths at stake for Gold Nationals. the Blaze was one of the 6, but can't claim they "won" the tournament anymore than the other 5 teams who qualified there. The goal is to qualify. The tournamet ends when there are 6 teams left, but no clear cut winner. We faced Blaire Luna at in Tulsa. She is very good. We also faced another Texas recruit this summer, Rachel Fox, who is just as good if not better. Fox throws much harder, but Luna's off speed stuff is better.
Luna's team went 0-2 in bracket play at Gold Nationals, Luna took both losses. Fox's team, Impact Gold, lasted longer, not by much, but did win a couple of bracket games behind Fox. I could be wrong, but I think Fox still has a year left at the HS level, but it will interesting to see who ends up as the #1 pitcher.

Thank you for a great and informative post, hipsquare. Appreciate the insight.

Fox sounds freaking awesome. It will be cool to have a Luna and Fox combo in some form or another. A winning scenario for Texas especially if we get those bats making noise and some runs to help the pitching out.

Okay, Lefty, I thought you were talking about 18U Gold. Have never paid any attention to the 16U Ronald Mcdonald, its on a different weekend. If i'm not mistaken, I think the pitcher Cat recruited to DePaul is Bree Brown, Impact Gold's other pitcher, also very good. I really thought that with the 1-2 punch of Fox and Brown, Impact Gold would make a bigger splash at Gold Nationals than they did. They finished 17th, not bad, but they should have done better in my opinion. Anyway, with Luna and Fox on the way, Texas pitching is in good hands. The Horns need to recruit better hitters, I am not convinced Clark knows what a good hitter looks like.

I don't think hitting is as big a problem now. Texas hit .295 last year - not earth shattering, but good enough to be 34th out of 200, and it was the best Texas has ever done. The top 5 hitters are all coming back, too. ERA was 2.90, which was 100th out of 200 - that is a concern.

Just being honest, I really think Coach Clarke has done all she can at this point and I don't see improvement with her at the helm.

No offense to her.

I don't think she is capable of bringing in the recruits that we need in order to win without one of the best pitchers in the entire World in the circle (lol...I had to go back and edit because I started typing "on the hill again").

That's what happened to coach Conradt, it was just time to go.

The recruits were just not that interested as they should be.

Our facilities are top notch, so is the University, so why not get the best recruits across the country?

Hell, I would settle for the best recruits in the State of TEXAS right now to be honest with you.
