UT-Baylor game

I would really like to see some token pressure on the Baylor ball handlers (Wallace or Morris) as they bring the ball up the court; didn't see it against OSU, and I really think it could have helped slow down Goodwin.

Against Baylor, I think the token pressure would take some valuable time off the shot clock and not allow them as much time as they'd like to run their offense.

In the Tech game, I noticed Brooke and LaShann were occasionally pressuring the Tech guards as they came up the court. It stood out to me as something we were practicing for Baylor.

That is true. We didn't "need" to be pressuring the inexperienced Tech ballhandlers, but that could be a good indication we are going to use that moving forward.

Sorry to hear about fans here not treating people right. There's bad ones everywhere. But I've traveled to many a game over the years and haven't had any problems with anybody really. I've had a few TX Tech fans give me a look that would freeze alcohol but they they didn't say anything. If any of you want to get with me before the game I'll treat you in so many ways you'll have to like some of them. Waco has a great selection of places to eat. We basically have one of everything. I'll be in town today if any of you would like for me to pick up some tickets for you. I'm sure it will be the largest crowd this year.

I'm not sure who will win this game (and of course nobody else is either), but I have watched every game they have played this year and there are times it's unreal how good they are. Yet nearly every game, especially when they play a cupcake they seem to go into a 5 minute funk and play like a dog. I suspect both teams will be up for this one as each team will understand what they're up against. If the TX team that played UConn shows up I doubt BU will win. Obviously that same team did not show up at TCU or Tennessee. That TCU loss is still a mystery to me. In fact as a result of it TX is almost facing a must win here as a loss will put them two games down. When the season started I really thought TX had a stronger team this year because Baylor lost a lot of depth last year. But with Rella not playing and Joyner not showing what I expected from her I am thinking a little differently now. But guess what ? That's why we play the game, to put all the predictors in their place. Looking forward to the game.

Agree about the fans. Baylor's are no better or worse than anyone else's fans (including Texas fans - I've apologized many times for our fan's behavior especially at football games).
I've been to many games there (football, basketball, baseball) and never had any real issues. They do hate Texas, however. Which makes it fun.

I really believe Texas can win this game - strength of schedule shows you Baylor hasn't been tested like Texas. However, they may have emotions on their side with the pre-game tribute to Chameka Scott.

All I know about Baylor fans is they’re the only bunch in the Big 12 that actually boo the other teams starting lineups and I’ve been to quite a few tournaments to witness it.

Agree. I have been to several tournaments and to almost every homecourt in both the B12 and SEC. Baylor, by far, has the most obnoxious fans. Boo-ing during lineup announcements. My god, they actually cheered when Nneka went down. I was there. The fans around us made fun of my 6 year old daughter because she wore a UT cheerleader outfit and cheered during the game. Made her cry so I got up and left and never returned.

I had asked the box office to seat us as close to the Texas bench as possible so we would have other UT fans nearby. They sat me on the other side of the arena in a sea of green. After one game (a diff game a few years earlier), fans yelled obscenities at us to the point we actually looked for security to feel safe.

I hope all of you going this year have a better experience, but I will never set foot on that campus again.

just an FYI, Gameplan with Karen Aston will be on the LHN at 7:30 PM with a repeat at 9:30 PM. Should include a breakdown of the upcoming Baylor game.

I like Ariel’s answer to stopping Brown:
“(You) jump on her back,” Atkins said.

Guess we will find out just how well we match up in the post with Baylor.
Mulkey said.… they certainly match up with us well in the post. It’s gonna be a great basketball game, I hope.”
I do think our posts will be a bigger challenge than BU has faced in the post before.

Seems year after year you complain about the same situation. I've been too many games myself both Big 12 and SEC and Baylor is like everyone else. ALL schools have some obnoxious fans somewhere in the area that are not like the other 99%, including Texas. I've witnessed a couple of fans from Texas do the same thing and was completely embarrassed by how they acted. I'm sorry this happened to you, but please don't discourage our fans from attending the games. We can use all the support that most want to give. On another note, I'm friends with a Baylor fan and I've asked why we are always up at the top of the building. Since Baylor has a big following, all of the lower sections are purchased through season ticket holders so there is no other location to put fans. There is a small section behind the visitors bench in which those tickets go to the visitors school and are mainly for family. If you can't get tickets through UT, then you will only find tickets in the upper bowl at Baylor.

Baylor has a couple of things going on tonight. A salute to Chemeka Scott who passed away recently. They are also putting Baylor t-shirts......believe green on all the seats to do a green out or something similar. My Baylor friends that I am going with, say they expect me to put one on. Fat chance. I may be the lone ranger in a sea of green but will wear my burnt orange proudly. We are leaving at 2:15 pm from Carrollton today so will be there early. Hope my voice holds up yelling for the Horns so early. Will be in nose bleed section but who cares. Hook Em !

yeah, there seem to be more and more errors that could be fixed by simple proof reading. Frustrating at times.

then you will only find tickets in the upper bowl at Baylor.
And this is why I don't go to games at BU. I have trouble if I have to climb more than two to three steps. Personally, though, the couple of times I did go to a BU vs Texas game, I did not have problems with the Baylor fans.

:hookem2:

I think that Baylor will win by double digits. I think them playing at home and their inside play will be the difference.

After watching both teams this year I figured BU & TX would probably split their two games just as they did last year. That's why it's very important to take care of business against the other conference foes. But last year it was rather strange that both won on each others home court. Wouldn't have expected that.

So HYPED about this game but I have to leave home and go to a play at 645pm. Play starts at 730pm. Idiot me purchased the tickets before looking at my calendar. SMH!!
The game comes on again at 11pm. So I'll watch the 2nd half when I get back home.
I think Baylor takes this one by 12. Brown and Cox will dominate down low and foul out JWhite and the twin. Hosey and Holmes try but fail to contain her when they are subbed in for assistance. Brown and Cox run a high low clinic for the Horns.

Good news, I think Brook breaks the senior slump and shoots lights out but unfortunately it won't be enough to get us over the hump.
I'm really anxious to see how Higgs performs tonight. Mulkey has scouted her and will have her on lock down. Curious to see if Higgs has a counter punch. Hopefully, someone is working with her on this.

Tight game through the 1st half, Bears up by 5. 2nd half Mulkey adjusts and shoots the Horns out of the gym. Our coach still learning how to adjust at half time thus we lose..

Now, I'm willing to eat buckets of crow if I'm wrong. I would LOVE FOR US TO WIN!! If JWhite and the twin lock down Brown and Cox, great for them and we get a WIN!!

Blurb in the Statesman to day that Destiny Littleton has been cleared to play after battling tendinitis the last few weeks.

Hard to know how officiating will go until the game starts. I just hope the refs call it the same against both teams, especially the post players. Last year Brown and Cox would fall into Joyner and Kelsey when we were on offense, and they did not blow their whistles.

Going into the game, I feel confident based on how we have played in our last two games. Strangely, right before our game at Baylor last season, we were not playing well; I would never have expected the team to play as well as they did those first 3.5 quarters and win.

We have got to make their post players play defense; use some pump fakes to get them off their feet and draw the fouls early and often.

Our 3-4 guards have a variety of skills; don't think Baylor can guard them if at least 3 of them are on their games tonight. Other than Wallace, Baylor is very young in the backcourt; we have got to expose their youth and inexperience.

article in the paper AAS from the Waco Tribute, it's not online and the Tribute is a subscription only paper, same as the AAS.
Brown and Cox, this season and next, are what I envision from Sedona and Charlie, especially from their soph season on.
A couple of paragraphs from the article:
In Big 12 play alone, the duo makes up 40.3% of Baylor's scoring. Yes, they both can play with their backs to the basket, make a move and score. But they can also turn and face. They've got range. Cox has hit a few three pointers. Brown can score from the top of the key.
"if there are two better in the country, I need to see them playing together," Baylor coach Kim Mulkey . "They pass to each other well, they get along, and they have great size. At 6-foot-7 and 6-foot-4, that's hard to duplicate."
I still think that our posts will present problems for them that they have not seen this season.

Please. Their coach told fans to punch people in the face. :rolleyes1: Awful. Just awful.
