Thanks for the support back home during the game guys! We definitely appreciate it and need it! All we can get. So keep sending those vibes during the games.

Regarding the pinch runner rule: a player can re-enter a game once after being PR or PH'd. A player and her sub can not be in the line up at the same time. If you put a player in a second time, it is an illegal substitution. So for Bustos or Nuveman, coach can put a PR in once and re-enter them back in just once. If they put a PR in a second time for them, they are done for that game.

Staying up almost all night every night to watch these games live is killing this old man, but what a way to go.

Longhorns! They are everywhere! This is from the USA Japan game yesterday! I know the guy in the baseball cap, but not the guy in the shirt.

lostman, I've been trying to figure out the rotation. I'm hoping it's Cat for China; then Finch for the semi-final; then Cat for the final. However, if it's Finch versus China, then it'll likely be Cat for the semifinal and Finch for the final. What have you heard? How do you see it?

No real rotation for USA. Catherine was slated to throw against Japan but when they saw the line up and that they were not throwing their ace, they decided to throw Monica instead. It is more a matter of the strengths and weeknesses of the opponent for the day. Softball pitchers can throw 2 or 3 days in a row with no problem.

Stay up tonight and be loud! China has had a good crowd for all their games. Groups of school kids are coming to games for field trips. They are out of medal contention today though, I think. So we shall see how good the fans really are!

Rotation or not, I'm still willing to bet that (assuming the U.S. doesn't lose any games), the starters in the last three games will be Cat, Finch, Cat in that order.

Whoever starts, I'll be up at midnight again, cheering us on against China.

EDIT--SPOILER--It's Cat. In the first, the first hitter got a hit to center. Cat walked another batter. But she got a batter to ground out, another to fly out, and a strike out, so no damage done. In the bottom of the first, the U.S. scored nine runs (walk, hbp, homer, single, walk, double, single, infield single, single with two base error, walk). After the top of the third, China is still scoreless, but Cat does not have her best stuff today so far. China is hitting the ball, but straight at our fielders. Finch came in for Cat to start the fourth. According to the announcers, this was to make sure all of the pitchers had some work shortly before the medal games and were sharp.
