Just finished watching. Definitely the best game Zia Cooke has had. Seemed to be playing with slightly more patience and her little stop-and-pop from the free throw line was money in the bank. Jordan Horston also seemed much more under control this game but still quick. As the legend John Wooden preached - “Be quick but don’t hurry.”USA vs China game story:

Nice line for Celeste in China game:
14 pts (5-11 FGs; 2-3 from BTA; 2-3 FTs); 5 rebs; 2 assists; one block; zero steals; zero TOs.
Cooke had more FGs made and attempted in this game than in the previous two: 7-13 in this game compared to 1-9 in the two previous.
Twice they have made the Final, twice they were runners-up. Spain come up against familiar foes at the U17 Women's World Cup with another meeting with the USA - a team with just one defeat in the history of the event.
Spain have always reached the Quarter-Finals, but this year's route has been far from easy with back-to-back losses in the Group Phase before a convincing win against Canada.
USA have been back to their dominant best, leading almost every team statistical category and they count on multiple MVP candidates in their ranks. One struggle has been at the free throw line with their shooting percentage of 60.6 ranked as the third worst of all 16 teams.
"We'll get prepared for Spain - they had a big win over Canada that we watched as a staff," said USA head coach Carla Berube. "We'll work on our defense and the goal is to be feeling 100 percent ready and confident for Spain. They've got some really strong post players. They're really good offensive rebounders. They're smart defenders. So, it’s going to take a great effort from us on Friday."
Raquel Carrera is fifth among all players in scoring (15.3 points per game), while Nerea Hermosa averages 10.0 boards per game to rank third in rebounding.
As a team, the USA shot 26.9 percent for the game (30-64 FGs).
Shoot, still hoping that the game will also be on youtube but doubtfully since ESPN+ is an online service.
Thanks for the info and suggestion. Good ol’ ESPN - do the bare minimum to promote WBB in the US but try to bilk us for some dough while every other game gets aired on YouTube for free. Ugh.Youtube and ESPN+ are both streaming services. If you get one you can get the other. ESPN+ is $4.95 per month, but you can get the first 7 days for free if you want to watch and then cancel.
My thoughts, exactly, DFW_Horn.Thanks for the info and suggestion. Good ol’ ESPN - do the bare minimum to promote WBB in the US but try to bilk us for some dough while every other game gets aired on YouTube for free. Ugh
At least 12 of those 16 points were scored when USA went to full court press - Hungary didn’t get the ball across halfcourt 5 consecutive possessions resulting in 5 layups for the US. I actually felt bad for Hungary - USA backed off of that in the 2nd quarter and only outscored Hungary 15-12.USA up 30-10 at the end of one quarter. It was a tight game with three minutes to go with USA up 14-7. USA went on a 16-3 scoring binge the last three minutes to open up the big lead.
