I really thought this class was going to be huge after our first junior day. It's not bad at all and will probably end us up in the top 10 recruiting, but it had all the makings of a No. 1 class.
 
I'm sure this will set off a firestorm...As a QB, RS is ranked ahead of GG. As an ATH, I could at least understand the argument. However, as a QB...Well, don't quite buy that one...to say the least.
 
I'm amazed Gilbert is still a 5-star. He just had off-season shoulder surgery and nobody knows how he'll recover from it. If he's 100% healthy, he's a 5-star. But nobody knows if he's 100% healthy.

Rivals needs to drop him out of the top 100 and top250 until he shows he's better. Once he shows he's healthy, he can rejoin the top of the lists where he belongs.
 
Apparently Rivals got a new guy to evaluate Texas players for the national list. Just about every year, with only few and minor exceptions, I usually agree with the placement of this state's players on the Top 100 and 250.

However this year they are way off in my opinion. However it's all still just subjective.

Yes RS is way overrated, especially considering the position change. He had 8 passing TD's and 4 INT's last year with a 45% comp% and just about 800 yards passing. Will be interesting to see what he does this year but I would have thought they start him lower and allow him to move up based on results during senior season. I expect him to fall if he doesn't exceed right away.

There is a #1 QB in CA so of course he will be #1 on rivals. Actually USC has 4 in top 18 and they are all from CA. I don't see a CA top 100 yet but I guess if they are from CA and committ to USC then they must be a 5 star. Texas has 4 five star guys including the overrated RS.
 
Well Bundy, Rivals kept Stephen Good as a 5 star last year for Oklahoma even though he was sidelined. I guess they are making a habit of it.
 
according to les miles lsu has a freshman qb coming in that he feels can contribute early.he also has perriloux,lee & the
harvard transfer.as for shepherd i would say his qb trial will
be swift after which miles will put him on a fast train to
receiverville. believe he is a5* but ranked too high.wonder if
the young man has started to look reality in the face.
 
Phil, I don't usually keep up with this as early as it is, but found your comment interesting. I was just reading today that a blow U committ from the 8-man ranks was rated in the Top 100. I guess it could happen, but it sounds a little high from all the HS players in the US. He may turn out, but I would like to see him line up in a 5-A HS playoff game first.
