This is wild -- apparently there are 100 tribes around the world that have had no contact with the outside world and are just chillin with their bows and arrows trying to shoot down planes.

I wonder what they think about a airplane. Did they raise their bows because of fear, because they thought it may be food? Do they want contact with the outside world? I'd love to hear them discuss the events of the day they saw the large flying shiny bird that didn't flap its wings. But only if they spoke english, because otherwise I couldn't understand them and that would miss the whole point of me listening to them.

I don't understand the idea that we should leave them alone. They're people that were so deep in the jungle that they've just never (maybe) had contact with modern living humans. Doesnt meant that we should't attempt to help them with modern medicine or other inventions.

People want the govt to stop the FLDS from their lifestyle but lets leave these primitive people to whatever culture they have created for themselves? makes no sense to me.

Check out "At Play in the Fields of the Lord" by Peter Mathiessen; great story (fiction) about the way outside contact affects a remote amazon tribe.

It was also made into a good (but long) movie with Tom, Berenger, Aiden Quinn, Darryl Hannah, & John Lithgow.

Why would they be going to hell? God's law is written on our hearts...He will judge them when they die. Not up to us.

Anyway, this fascinates me. I would LOVE to see how they live and what they think of things like a tv, computer, hell...shoes.

The article says that further contact would threaten the tribe and could make them extinct. Pardon me, but aren't they human beings? Unless something's going on with 6 billion other people on Earth I'm not aware of, I don't think extinction is the right word.

Now maybe their culture is danger of being eradicated, but isn't this inevitable. Do we mourn the loss of other ancient cultures (ok, maybe Native Americans and Aborigines, but those are relatively recent historical events)? Isn't it fair to assume that some alien culture will probably do this to the entire human race sometime down the road? It seems to me that this is the natural course of things. In other words, people get screwed by other people. Always have, always will.

Also, I agree that if they saw an airplane they've already been contacted.
