UK may vote to leave the European Union

So my friend who introduced me to Nigel Farage is visiting next month with his wife. He asked me if he could send "a couple of things" to my house before their arrival. Obviously I told him it was fine. This is what was at our doorstep when we got home from London. Understand that they're only going to be at our house for four days, but that's 24 beers (12 are under the gin bottles) and 3 bottles of gin. And of course, as you'd expect, our house is always packed with booze.

I suspect he will give some away as gifts while he is there. Courtesy calls and whatnot.

What happened to the Tories since Theresa May? Why did they go all-in for Johnson and Truss?

They went all-in for Johnson because of Brexit. He promised to deliver a deal better than May could. He was right, though the standard was pretty low. However, he turned out to be a typical slimy politician in other ways. He put the UK on lockdown, which he could have survived but then broke his own lockdown orders. That hurt a lot. (I don't think politicians in the US and around the world truly understand how bad that looks.) Then he got caught letting a gay dude that was part of his team get slobbering drunk and start grabbing people (including MPs), and that was the last straw.

As for Liz Truss, I don't have a good answer for you. She's my MP (Southwest Norfolk), and I always found her to be your typical mediocre, opportunistic and unprincipled politician. Nothing to really impress.

45 days in office? How can she be that bad or was she like this isn't worth it?

She isn't that bad. She just isn't that good. She's mediocre at a time when the UK needs greatness. Their economy is a mess, and inflation is hitting them hard. She presented a tough budget that she didn't know how to defend (and probably didn't believe in since she's a former LibDem-turned-Tory and not a true believer in conservatism). It created a big stink, and the markets freaked out, and she doesn't know how to handle it.
