UIL Girls playoffs

I don't think the following have been posted previously; I know the Chevy MVP video was, but don't recall seeing these two. One is a HS Hero feature on a local Dallas newscast, and the other is a Duncanville HS News video. The first focuses more on Empress, and gives some insight into her personality and work ethic, and the second has a pretty nice interview with Coach Self-Morgan, and she gives her thoughts on Empress.

First time poster and long time reader.

We saw Empress play yesterday! First thing that come to mind is what a great game it was to watch, especially in person. Both teams played so well. I was so clear how well coached Duncanville is. They played upbeat and confident the entire game. Pressed the entire game.

Everyone played with such an awareness, they always knew where their teammates were on the floor as evidenced by the low number of turnovers and no look passes. Empress showed a lot of skill and she is very very fast. She had at least 6 or more assists to her teammates. No ball hogs on that team. Can not wait to watch the final game tonight and to see Empress in burnt orange!.

Duncanville has Empress who has verbaled to Texas while Dekaney's Shunta Nevitt will be playing for Tech.
 
Empress much more involved offensively, looking her shot within the offense. Duncanville really playing well on defense.
 
24-3 Duncanville at the end of the first. Impressive play by Duncanville. Empress has either 8 or 10 pts, lost count.

Dekaney did not hit a FG, with pts coming from FTs.
 
41-9 Duncanville at the half. Empress is the leading scorer with 13. Only thing I haven't seen her do is rebound a lot. She could play 1-3 like pretty much all of our guards although probably the 1 only in a pinch.
 
Duncanville up 61-20 at the end of the third. Empress is one of several players in double figures with 17.
 
When I lived in Austin, I would take off work during the state tournament. One of my fondest memories out of the 15 years of living in Austin.
 
69-31 Duncanville wins over Dekaney. Empress is coming in as a state champion. Congrats to Duncanville.

Empress, near as I can recall, ended up with 17 pts, 3 rebs, and 3 assists. Those may be off a bit from the final numbers.

She has quick hands on D and a very quick burst to get pass defenders. Can't wait to see her next fall!

it's almost 11 pm. And a long ride home. Wonder if Duncanville will stay around and come to the game tomorrow? Especially with the coach being a Texas exe? That would be neat.
