U.S. vs. Ghana--Yo-ho-ho and spoilers for thee!!!!

well, as a friend of mine noted.... The never had a lead but for 2 minutes in their 4 world cup games.

Gem, we may not be a five star restaurant but we arent the hole in wall any more either, maybe the top chef isnt the right choice but cant we do better than the homeless guy who just knows how to make grilled cheese and keeps screwing that up every other time with his love of Ricardo and Robbie cheese.

F-Dub, you know I respect you and enjoy our chatter, but in this particular case, I think you are behaving like a stereotypical fanboy.

Why is Bob Bradley always the lightning rod for your anger when the U.S. loses? Is it merely because you're a fan and that's what fans do, or do you believe the U.S. is so good that it should never lose to any team under any circumstances?

We might not have "hole-in-the-wall" talent, but we are far from competing with the world's top sides on even terms.

We won our group, advanced to the knockout rounds, and got beat by a team with comparable talent that happened to play better that day. What more should the U.S. have accomplished?

Gem, I am still bitter about yesterday and I am probably speaking with more vitriol than I normally would. That said, I havent been a fan of Bradley for a while. I certainly dont expect the USA to win every game and we arent even in the class of the contenders to win the Cup. Given that we arent a world power at the beginning of the tournament I felt that round of 16 was the best that could and should be expected of this team. They got that and I guess Bradley deserves some credit for that though his failure to get his team ready for start of every single match almost prevented it.

What bothers me is that when the draw opens up the way it does and suddenly we arent playing a world power in the round of 16 we get the same old mistakes from Bradley.

Look he isnt Steve Sampson who set the bar for terrible coaching but if the USA is going to be a credible challenger for a quarterfinal place something I think the USA should aspire to then we must do better than a Bob Bradley as the coach.

You must concede that in any other country he would be hung in effigy, we Americans are just much more patient with our coaches.

Gem I certainly agree that it is highly unlikely any of the US forwards finish the way the Germans did today.

I would also concede that Ghana outplayed the US but who knows how much Bradley's lineup decisions played in that. I cannot credit Bradley for Bornstein's play, he was forced into that move by Onyewu's injury and poor play the first two matches.

The funny thing is if England doesnt play dead against Algeria, then the USA finishes second and gets rolled by Germany today and we are all just happy that we got to the round of 16 like we hoped when the tourny began.

A friend turned me on to that website a few months ago. It's outstanding...I've been checking it every day of the WC for recaps and analysis.
