Clearly the best college player of the 2007-2008 season. Discuss among yourselves.

Replace clearly with arguably and I would agree.

If I had the first pick in the draft I would be hard pressed to choose between him and Beasley.

Well, the CBS crew has decided he has more will and heart and .... whatever... than anybody. Just handed him the player of the year award.

Which reminds me how sick I am of announcers annointing athletes in games and raving on and on... Jim Nance, this guy Dick here, and Brent.. all do it. Without letting up.

Basically it's done to embelish the sport and make it bigger than life. It's a sell job of the medium. They love to dish out the superlatives by overstating the names and all the language of the teams and players.... it's done so much in sports it's become nauseating.

I agree he's a great college player and fun to watch but I'm not sold he'll be an NBA superstar. He'll be a solid role player, maybe even starter, but I don't see him as an allstar.

college not equal to NBA. This guy leads by example and is strong/key down the stretch. I don't care if he's the 10th pick in the draft.

I hate the endless superlatives that you hear out of the network guys, but I agree 100% about Hansbrough. The guy is a beast, and Bilas was dead on about his comments regarding his competitiveness and never taking a play off. He might not be an all star on the NBA level, but he will have a long career cause he busts his *** and will outwork most of those prima donnas in the NBA. Beasley might be the better NBA prospect, but Hansbrough will be a better player than Andrew Bogut and can easily be justified as a high lottery pick.

I think he will be a very good pro. He's definitely got the hops, the stroke and the heart.

If he wasn't playing on the best team in college basketball, he would probably have Beasley like numbers - or better.

Let's not forget Hansbrough is more than 3 years older than Beasley. Uh-huh, that's right. Beasley DOB 1/9/89; Hansbrough DOB 11/3/85. But in his three years in college, Hansbrough did manage to total just as many blocked shots as Beasley did in his first year and hit 1/12 as many the three pointers.

Easy to know if you are watching a UNC game:

Well, obviously I won't be applying for any NBA GM jobs, but I still think he's pretty good. If he falls to the Spurs I would be very happy.

Dude is a fantastic college player. I have enjoyed watching him the last couple of year. In the NBA, he will be a slightly more skilled Eduardo Najera.

Eduardo Najera's last year at OU: 18.4 ppg, 9.4 rpg.

Hansbrough cracks me up because he gets his shots blocked more than any player I've ever seen. But if you toss out the blocked shots and compute his FG% just on shots that get up to the rim, he must shoot 80% on those.

Hansbrough is so good not because he's a great athlete but because he is truly insane about his work ethic (which is why they call him Psycho T). This guy's life is devoted to basketball. He's obsessed with it.

While he won't be anywhere near the #1 pick, if he takes that same passion for the game to the NBA, I think he will be a great pro player because he will outwork everyone else in the league. And in sports, especially professional sports when most people only care about a paycheck, that kind of dedication does not go unrewarded.

Purely on athleticism and physical skills, he's a mid-first-rounder at best. But add in his dedication and willingness to wring 110% out of his abilities, and any team could justify taking him top 10. Players who are insane athletes and who get by on that alone are more common than moderate talents who work hard to make up the difference. Having a TH on your team will bring more than skills and athleticism, even if it takes some time to pay off (in intangibles, team chemistry, leading by example, etc.).

If I've got an 8-10 level pick and TH is on the board, I think I'd take him.

reminds you of Christian Laettner (Duke) who was superb in college but didn't do much in the pros. Time will tell.

he is a lunch pail kind of guy.

He will be over matched at the next level against taller more athletic players and unless he develops a nice mid range jumper he will struggle offensively.
