TX vs BU game 1

I can't even think of an adjective...it's worse than when we used to get thumped by UCONN. Totally spastic after the half...doesn't KA ever have a plan b, c, or d?

Once again I just don't understand how Coach Aston doesn't see how mediocre her Jr. high offense is and actually do something about it. Frustrating as a fan.

I would honestly like to see the playbook of Aston because I am positive I can come up with something better. Although I will always support the Longhorns I really need Aston and Shaka gone so Texas can start fresh. Every other sport that has not performed to the standard of Texas has made coaching changes so basketball needs to do the same

Mulkey never stops coaching. Up by 20? She coaches as hard as when she’s down by 5. Meanwhile Aston just watches. Like me. Emotionless.

I don't think we can do worse in Waco, but maybe we can.

It's so frustrating that Joyner can't get on the block and stay there. She did us no good trying to be a guard and taking all those threes and off-balance jumpers.

In a previous post I had said that Baylor would beat us by 30. It ended up 20 but could have easily been much more. It will be 30 or more when we play in Waco.
I was scratching my head at who kept saying we matched up with Baylor. They clearly are much better athletically than we are. And better coached. Mulkey is one of the best recruiters in the nation and Aston will never match her recruiting prowess. Aston's time has pasted. Mediocrity is all we can ever expect from her teams. Unfortunately I don't think she has performed poorly enough for CDC to get rid of her. We will probably go to the NCAA's and lose in the first round. And that's our future unless CDC does something?

She's never seen it, and myself and another have been calling this very thing out for years..... I guess now everybody else is FINALLY seeing it too!!!!! Fact is, we are INEPT in the half court and always have been....

What frustrates me is Holmes taking one-legged, fall-away "jump shots" (I used quotations marks because she barely jumps) because we can't figure out an effective offensive scheme to take advantage of her size (remember Kalani Brown?). And it appears Collier's best offensive contribution is her 3-point shot...sigh...

Actually Karen has been every bit as good at recruiting... it’s just once they get here when the difference becomes apparent.

My understanding is this is the last year of Karen’s contract (I’ll research that) and I simply don’t see anyone fighting to keep her here.

edit: yep. Just went and looked. Her contract was extended in 2016 through the end of the 2019-20 season and I don’t see anything about an extension to that. My gut tells me this is it unless we make a deep run in the tournament.

When a coach can come in and turn Baylor's volleyball program into a winner and challenge Texas ( actually outdo us this last season ); surely CDC will not sit by and be ok as Aston continues to be mediocre, and get thumped again and again by Baylor like what we have seen year in and year out with no headway. Surely CDC is on the phone with the Oregon coach's agent and others to see what can be worked out. He did in fact get rid of Connie Clark and bring in a winner to try to fix our softball.

I doubt it. I think some are giving CDC too much credit. After all this is the same AD that just gave Angela Kelly a new contract. If KA makes the tournament, (which barring a significant injury is very likely) she will probably get a new contract.

Have to remember on this one that...Sedona is at Oregon and their coach pretty much said that he backed her on her claims of Texas's medical mistreatment of her. Just Saying.

I said we match up with Baylor and I still stick by that. We just don't have the coaching staff that baylor has. In the early matchups for the tournament we are setup against purdue in the first round then Oregon in the 2nd:facepalm:

CDC didn’t fire Clark - she was in the same position as Aston is this year - expiring contract. No way anything happens until the last game of the season is over but if he doesn’t at least have a preliminary list of candidates, he’s not doing his job.

I have zero interest in the Oregon coach. Zero.

A lot of wishful thinking. You also have to remember that just like soccer, wbb doesn't make any money so there isn't the same kind of pressure to make a move.

Hmmm. Yes. WBB isn’t profitable but Soccer has almost no fan base and a tiny salary budget. WBB actually has a decent following and has proven it can have a larger one and the television dollars are nothing to sneeze at... and I think Karen’s salary is around $700k so yes I think there is pressure to make a move. It’s a much higher profile sport than soccer.

yes, a date with a number 1 seed is looking like their future. but let’s not kid ourselves 9 more games to play and another 6-3 record is possible.

Embarrassing. No words can describe her 1-20 record against Baylor.

Again why would an elite player choose to play at Texas knowing we’ve topped out with the current coaching staff? Yes I call them all out for being sheep instead of fixing the issues that evidently are hindering the potential of this team. Talent is there, coaching is not.

IMO there is no pressure. And we also have to remember that although underachieving the program isn't horrible. If Texas had the winning tradition of a Tennessee I could certainly see a move being made like was made with an underachieving Warlick.

Again, do I think a move should be made? Yes, but I think CDC has shown that he's more than willing to put up with finishing 2nd every year in a mediocre conf. and maybe getting to a sweet sixteen every now and then. Giving Kelly a new contract on the last year of her deal after barley getting into the tournament is all you need to know.

I will be shocked if Karen's contract is not renewed (not that that's what I want).

There is no way on earth that Graves is leaving Oregon to come here. Why on earth would he? They are so excited by their new found success, they will pay him whatever he wants. Eugene is a beautiful, great place to live. He's got great recruits coming in.
