TV series to watch on DVD

If you even remotely like BSG, then definitely add Firefly. It's VERY well worth it.

The wife and I are getting caught up on Lost at the moment, and it's been time well spent...so far.

I was a big fan of the HBO show Carnivale. It had interesting plotlines and great character development. There are only 2 seasons to watch too.

The first two seasons of Alias were outstanding.

I've never seen The Wire so I am looking forward to buying it.

Best part of this thread is, of all people, Luke Duke
recommending Dallas
.

I'd err towards series that are completed.

Some that are finished, and are fantastic:
Freaks and Geeks
Veronica Mars
Firefly

Some that I started, and am now waiting for new seasons:
Weeds
Lost
Dr. Who (really cheesy British sci-fi)

24. The only way to watch 24 is by DVD. I can't imagine watching it one episode a week on network TV.
Another great thing about the 24 series is there are no season to season cliff hangers. Each season feels like one long movie.

When you manage to leave the tv to come tell us how right we were about the Wire and how awesome it is, how you cannot believe you waited this long and cannot wait for future episodes to rent we won't tell you, "We told you so". See, we already know and you will too.

Enjoy, hope the surgery went smoothly and you enjoy your new breast implants.

Re: the Wire

Oh, how right you were about the Wire and how awesome it is!
I cannot believe you waited this long and cannot wait for future episodes to rent.

I actually understand half the slang now. I do get a bit lost on some of the legal stuff, but the drama is great. The cast is enormous - bigger than LOST. I think I need to take notes to keep people straight.

fro- yeah, the best thing to do is to watch with subtitles or captions, and pay attention. you'll start to put the pieces together and it gets easier as the seasons go on. you'll eventually start speaking in balmerese. I love the fact that they don't treat you like an idiot.

You'll get the names. At first I had a hard time figuring out which was which, Stringer or Barksdale (not facially, just that they never really called each other by name and were always together). It's funny to go back now and watch, remembering what a hard time I had with it.
