Rupp pops out to right.
Keyes gets 4 pitch walk. Kyle Lusson will run for him.
Lusson steals second but would have been out if 2b held on to ball, it has not been a great night on basepaths for Horns but UTSA has let us off hook a bunch.
Kevin Lusson with bloop single that scores Kyle and on throw home Kevin advances to second.
6-3 Horns
UTSA made it exciting in the 8th and 9th and if they hadnt missed no less than 3 pickoff plays on which Texas got subsequent runs at least twice and a dropped caught stealing by 2b on the 6th run for Texas this could have been a very different story. Augie will have a lot to talk about this week and as always i would rather win ugly then lose pretty.
Been a while since we've had a competitive game. Glad to get the win. Coastal's loss tonight puts us behind UConn with the second longest active winning streak.
After the A&M series, I had us pegged with a good chance to run the streak to 21 before hitting the kryptonite series. Hope we can do it. Let's sweep the Bears.
Horns struggle to beat a poor UTSA team? They did not play a good game but at least they won. 17 in a row is awesome, hopefully this team did not peak too soon?
I see this more as a wake-up call. Augie talked about it last night, how their respect for the game was lacking against UTSA and how they paid little attention to the small things.
I think it's hard, when you're focused on winning your conference games, to come back down to Earth and put up your best effort against a team like UTSA. Given that they did manage to win the game, I can accept it without assuming there are some problems developing. But if they look like that against Baylor, it will concern me.
Craig Way just interviewed Chance Ruffin. Ruffin said that when he went to the plate to bat in the bottom of the 8th last night, the umpire gave his some advice: "You hold that thing on the skinny end."
