Stafford gives up leadoff walk. K's next batter. Runner steals second. Bloop single puts runners at the corners.

K of number 4 batter.

Number 5 batter hits it deep to left, home run distance but just foul. Next pitch K's for third out.

Second batter is HBP, 2 on with no outs.

Nuncio comes in to pitch for Stafford.

WP advances runners. Walk loads bases.

SAC fly scores run and advances lead man, runners on corners.

Double Play then ends inning.

1-0 UTSA

Bottom 2

Kevin Lusson doubles, advances on SAC bunt by Walsh and scores on balk to tie game at 1.

Rowe draws walk. really poor pick off move and then throw from first to second allows him to steal second.

Etier appears to K but it is called a foul ball, then grounds out to first advancing runner.

Walla with 2 run HR. 3-1 Horns

Loy tries to bunt his way on but is thrown out by the pitcher.

Through 2 full innings 3-1 Texas.

Ryan Dalton grounds out to SS.

2.5 complete 3-1 Horns.

Bottom 3:

Shepherd leads off with single to center.
Rupp K's on three pitches.
Pickoff attempt would have gotten him but is wild into rf and Shepherd goes all way to third. that is twice Horns should have been picked off.
Keyes flies out to right and good throw gets Shepherd out at home.

3 full still 3-1 Texas.

Top 4: Carrillo in to pitch for Nuncio, looks like a lot of pitchers will be getting some live action in tonight.

Hutson K's.
Selsor grounds to pitcher.
Mohn grounds to second.

3 up 3 down.

Bottom 4:

Kevin Lusson full count walk.
Walsh with SAC bunt moves him to second. Steals third.

Rowe advanced on another missed pick off all way to third and then scored on a SAC bunt by Etier to make it 5-1 Horns.

Walla follows with stand up double to left center.

UTSA changing pitchers.

How many pickoffs is that for the UTSA pitcher .... three? ... and none has resulted in an out. I know what they'll be working on.

If I'm correct, we've had a number of baserunners picked off in previous games. Augie needs to get our baserunners more alert to the leftie pickoff moves.

New UTSA pitcher is Proudfoot.

Loy grounds to short but throw is off line and he is safe on error.

Shepherd up to bat and on first pitch Loy is caught stealing.

4 full 5-1 Horns.

The Texas baserunners have definitely been sleepwalking tonight. On a weekend those outs would be critical, fortunately this is a mid week game and will give Augie something to yell at his team about.

Have lost the feed down here in the Caribbean someone else will have to take this home. Game tracker is stuck in bottom of 4 and I cant get video feed back.

Ah, so Stafford only lasted one inning. Thanks. One small concern about this team is the failure to develop a 4th starter should we need one in the postseason. Dicharry hasn't panned out.

It would be nice to have the Tuesday starter be an established 4th pitcher for the regional where you may need a number 4. The nice thing is with the set up with the Big XII, supers and Omaha you just need three starters.

If a fourth is needed in the regional Stayton Thomas has been solid and so has Milner. Stafford can give you a few innings and just get to the seventh for Ruffin. Dicharry is injured if I am not mistaken.

Horns unable to add to their lead in bottom of 7 as they go in order 1-2-3.

5-1 through 7 full.

Stayton Thomas in to pitch 8.

Ground out to SS for leadoff hitter Carpenter.
Rockett follows with single up middle.
Steals second.
Brown grounds out to short, runner cant advance.
Rummel doubles to right driving in run. 5-2 Horns

I suspect that a game 4 or game 5 in a regional pitching wise would look a lot like tonight. The staff is deep enough that you run people out as long as they can go and then just move on to the next one to get you to late in the game and Thomas/Ruffin.

Dalton for UTSA with runner on second and two down singles and throwing error scores the run but he stays on first; 5-3 Horns.

Chance Ruffin to pitch in save situation.
