Texas vs Tenn would be a cool matchup in any bowl....hopefully a better bowl tho'....

I don't think Illinois makes it to a BCS game without Mendenhall, and I don't think Oregon makes it to a BCS game without Dixon. Other than that, I could see the rest of the teams playing in some type of BCS game. I could also see 8-10 teams not currently predicted to be in BCS games make a BCS game of some manner.

With this being the last Cotton Bowl at the Cotton Bowl (I think), I would love to play Tenn there. It'd be a historic and iconic ending. Even if it isn't a BCS bowl.

I think Illinois beats Ohio State without Mendenhal and that eliminates them from getting thumped in a BCS game. Zook had some great talent on that team a bunch came back. He also had some good redshirts sitting and a good class of what he needed coming in.

Meyer won with Zook talent and will lose with his own. Zook is a bad *** and somebody I would hope we look at if/when Mack Brown steps down on his own accord and for his own reasons. He is on the short list of coaches I think would fit in here and do well.

We should pool all of the Summer Bowl Projections and skip the season. It would save wear and tear on the players and coaches, allowing the players to get ready for the draft and the coaches to start early recruiting.

Hell, skip the bowls, too.

I know the irony of typing this cuts deep - especially over the last two years - but Zook runs a very loose ship. Discipline is not his strong point.

I've been wanting a TX v. TN matchup since I moved to Knoxville. The only problem with playing them in the Cotton is that it will mean both teams had crappy seasons. Nevertheless, I'll take it.

Zook had the misfortune of having to take over for a legend at Florida. I like the guy and I don't see his kids in the news all the time. But we see others.

He is a great recruiter. Mack did not exactly have tons of ties to the South either, not our corner of it. He was somewhat an outsider with stronger ties to Florida St. than anywhere. What he was great at was reinstilling our ties with HS coaches.

Astounding. Not one comment regarding the projection that Texas is headed to another second tier bowl while OU is projected to win yet another Big 12 title. Why is it that even in their so called rebuilding years OU manages to win the conference and we can't? Oh well, gotta keep tellin myself Mack is a good coach, Mack is a good coach. Keep drinkin the kool aid.

When Mack was hired I said just beat OU, Nebraska and win the bowl game and everything will be fine. I am still kind of there. He is doing fine on two of them.

Preseason, the Cotton Bowl would be about what I expect going into the season. If three things turn out well we could be quite good.
1 - The RB'sObi/McGee/Fozzy need to prove they can provide productive running.
2 - WR's outside of Quan and a healthy Ghost show up.
3 - How good can Muschamp get our defense.

I think our O-Line will do much better and much more stable, if they play like they did in the Holiday Bowl we'll be alright. I expect Colt to be smarter, for all of his faults, he made some really good plays year. With a better OL combined with another year of playing experience and development, Colt should be much improved.

Yes, Texas lately is the bastion of a clean cut program where nobody gets into trouble. That Zook, I tell ya, his kids are always in the news and get names like Book 'em Illini/Gators.

Rock meet glass house. I like the guy.

Nick... since when is this a rebuilding year for OU? Their entire offensive line is back, their record setting quarterback is back.. their most explosive running back returns.... their defensive line is the best in the Big 12.

If you're referring to last year, there's probably not a team in college football who could've won their conference with.. the injuries the offensive line sustained, losing their top wide receiver early in the year, incompetent defensive coordinator.

If you're in the school of "Mack is a horrible coach," ... who would you get to replace him that would be a dramatic improvement?

You're right, 100p. Texas has had some run-ins with the law. The extent of how much control Mack Brown had over the situation is debateable. That being said, I don't recall Mack virtually promoting the behavior by rounding up a group of players to go pick a fight.

Big difference.

I predict we go 12-1, no Big 12 Championship, go to a BCS bowl by virtue of our top 4 finish, then go 14-0 and win a NC the next year.

I'm just saying...

Shark- the last we heard of you was all of the can't lose to an inferior LSU team last year. Well, here you are perched at the top again! Will it be 3 straight? I tell my brother-in-law. If you do make it, better hope it isn't against another SEC team. I know a bunch on here will squeal at that. However, they just have too much team speed down there for the Big Ten. I mean at all 22 positions. tOSu has some speed just not as much. Now the Big 12 this year is going to be throwing that apple all over the yard. It is going to be wild and crazy every week and despite what some say, OU hasn't won a thing yet!
