Trump Administration Accomplishments

Maybe not forever but there were no 2024 elections and no current plan for any.

I'm willing to give him a pass on that until this thing is over. Obviously if he refuses to hold elections beyond the short term, that's a big problem. However, I'm not willing to give him a pass on how he conducted himself. I watched a lot more of the conference, and the more I see, the worse he looks.

I still don't like how the Administration has framed this. I do view Putin as the villain. However, for the first 30 or so minutes, Trump was actually pretty reserved and friendly to Zelensky, as he started trying to angle for things like the security guarantee during the press conference rather than in the meeting room. He put up with a fair amount of that before losing patience. If anyone was the adult in the room, it was Trump, not Zelensky or Vance.

A part of me also wonders if this thing was somewhat planned. By publicly getting on the wrong side of Trump, Zelensky was able to gain more support in the following few days from European governments that don't like Trump. Well, that's precisely what both Zelensky and Trump wanted. That might sound silly, but if he ultimately signs the mineral deal with the US (and I think he will), he's going to tacitly get the security guarantee from us that he wants either way with more European support than he might have otherwise gotten. It's not as good for him as NATO membership, but it's the next best thing.

I think I saw that Trump actually said something to the effect of, if Europe is great and adept at helping you, fine. We don't want to be there, anyway.

Now Zelensky is ready to sign
One thing I learned is the UK already signed a deal for minerals
How will Trump make sure we get the deal we want? The UK has given Ukraine peanuts compared to what America has given

He will make sure just like any good negotiator does. He is willing to walk away and cut that dude off. That's how.

So what's so much better than peanuts? Trump hasn't even offered Whataburgers or HIC's bar-b-que brisket yet.

^ That is more than just old people still on SS rolls. Those are loans made to over 3k who are over 115.
How could even a Dem allow that to happen? DOGE better be searching for relatives and forcing them to pay

These were fake companies using fake SS numbers to get fraudulently paid the covid relief money. There are no relatives.

Simple and accurate. The government creates nothing of intrinsic value.

The private sector creates wealth by
a) taking advantage of natural resources
b) refining said resources
c) using/combining said resources into products/services desirable to a buyer

This is a very elementary look at economics 101.

You and most of us get it BUT obviously from responses from Dems Media and Celebs "they" want people to think Gov't exists to take care of everyone.
I know most people understand this isn't true but many people hope the gov't will take care of them, Screw everyone else.
The Dems cleverly slide from one group to another so each thinks THEY will get the free sugar

We.can chalk up another accomplisment. A stock market CORRECTION caused by Trump"s bizarre bullying tarriff policies. Fentanyl from Canada...really? Hey, at least interest rates are coming down as investors flee equities.

Do you really not grasp that the Northern border was also a sieve that needs a better effort by Castro Junior? Surely you aren't that obtuse...

The Smoot-Hawley Tarriff Act of 1930 was the last attempt to use tarriffs as a major economic policy, and there's a reason why we haven't tried it since. It did more harm than good. They make goods more expensive in the US and insulate inefficient US companies.

I'm not saying there's no place for tarriffs. If a country is engaging in bad behavior or if there's a real national security reason, they can be appropriate. For example, I had no problem with threatening Colombia with them when they refused to accept their own citizens who had been deported. That's indefensible and totally unacceptable.

However, I've never seen a solid explanation for why we're hitting Canada or Mexico. We have a trade agreement in place with both of them that Trump negotiated (USMCA), and frankly, he worked a decent deal. Why mess it up with tarriffs? Are they violating USMCA? If so, how?

And I'm not sure why we're handing a political victory to the Liberal Party in Canada. They're about to elect a Conservative government, and I was happy to see Justin Trudeau and his minions shown the door. Why risk screwing that up?

It's a tiny fraction of what's happening on the Southern border, and why risk handing Castro Junior a political victory right before he and his hacks are about to get ousted?

Tiny fraction mentality is how we keep getting budget bloat...

A lot of Canadians still remember the harms that Castro Junior visited upon them in the name of 'emergency.' But much like in the States, they are bad at putting up quality candidates...

Not saying nothing should be done, but the size of the problem should certainly impact how we act. And since the problem is small, I'd rather wait until they have a decent PM and work something out with him.

Well, they reelected that clown after COVID, so I wouldn't assume anything. And the Liberal Party has seen its numbers rise since Trump started talking tariffs.

I guess I am obtuse. When I cross borders to Canada and Mexico, Canadians and Mexicans inspect to be sure I'm not bringing in contrband. When I come home US officials take care of that. You and the mentally stable genius need to educate me on a better system....maybe one that will stem the flow of US arms to Mexican cartels so it will appear to have some reciprocity.

I really don't understand what he is doing there. He says that tariffs are beautiful. I think part of his entourage (including JD) believes in the economic policy of Freidrich List who was a 19th century proponent of tariffs. He claims that are a net positive no matter what because they protect a national industrial base. I think it is very misguided and easily shown to be so.
