“Trick” plays

I met this little girlie, her hair was kinda curly
Went to her house and bust her out, I had to leave real early
These girls are really sleazy, all they just say is please me
Or spend some time and rock a rhyme, I said "It's not that easy"

It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time

This is what you do when you're thrown into a situation coaching someone else's players. It's great, and is great coaching, but it's not what you ultimately shoot for. You have to imagine that the coaches have a target in mind and wouldn't just say "We'll invite the top 25 ranked players in Texas to sign every year and figure out how to run a team once they show up."

Of course that's absurd, but if they're ranking and evaluating players, they have to have criteria they value over others.

The purpose of any offensive play is to trick the defense so that the play works. There. Every play is a trick play, unless its a Greg Davis play, in which case its a predictable play.

Statalyzer, you must have been really bored to dig this post up to "like"!

When Bijan broke off that 50 run today on the first play, I exclaimed “Look, Honey,,,a trick play”
WV expected the play to be a 1 yard off tackle run or a swing pass.

To the original poster and my HS playing days as a Center.

Plays were designed to trick, deceive, distract or fool for at least for a few seconds what the Offense wanted to do or would do.

For example:
Trap blocks
Double traps
Pulling guards or tackles
Isolation plays
Reverse plays
Double reverses
Statue of Liberty Play
Jump pass
QB pitch & Halfback throw
RB fake, hand to dragging Flanker
All kinds of screens with pre-fakes
Wishbone O fakes

Off top of my pointed head...
