Trends in American attitudes re: global warming

Dr. Roy Spencer has a great blog piece out about how this summer's heat has not been particularly impressive historically speaking. Worth a read while I wait for MarylandHorn to respond (hint hint). ; )
 
Why would this summer's heat make much difference one way or the other?

You can't "prove" global climate change on the basis of one season. And you can't disprove it. So who cares what Dr. Spencer says about this summer?
 
Perham, because MANY are trying to make a big issue of the heat and tie it to global warming. you are of course completely correct, and that is Dr. Spencer's point.
 
MarylandHorn, any more thoughts on my counterpoints? I am particularly intrigued to hear your thoughts on the "warming" of the past 15 years.
 
here is another more substantial critique of the 97% figure that gets thrown around so often (and so dishonestly). Of course many people aren't trying to be dishonest, they just honestly believe something that is false.

what about the 97% figure?
