Can't say I followed it to the detail, but the news reports said she had admitted to two vodka drinks, which corresponds to the bottle. But, in the video, she tells the judge in the jail that all she had was two glasses of wine at a movie. That doesn't account for the bottle. Is there an Alamo Draft house or the like in Lakeway? So, anyway, she probably had both kinds of alcohol, but may have been at something meeting other people. I would think people who drink alone are already at home, not out in traffic.
She apparently knew she had drunk too much and was in some trouble, because she was driving on the shoulder for a long time. I interpret that not as being too drunk to know the difference between the shoulder and a lane, but some thought process that I need to keep my speed low and hope to make it home without wrecking. In fact, she did not wreck, so that's good, and she gets partial credit for that.
So, it's a first time offense, no collision. Really, the story is just that she is a DA, multiplied by the fact that she acted like a horse's rear during the arrest and jailing. Just her arrest alone, even if she had acted entirely professionally during everything, would be a problem for that position, but my gosh she was as unprofessional as can be imagined, and acted all this out in the very arena that she needs to command future respect. I do not see how she can possibly keep this job.
