Travis County DA arrested for DWI

Naomi Gonzalez got a standing ovation from her colleagues after she drove drunk, and Mike Krusee completely got a pass. Why should Lehmberg get into serious trouble?

Ditto Mr. Deez

Pay a fine. Move along. Nothing to see. These sort of incidents are barely a blurb in the news especially if you're a lawmaker or other connected who's who. A regular joe first time offense would be a major fine, some sort counseling and 6 to 12 month class that comes out of your pocket along with probation. This gets swept under the rug and it's business as usual. She's lucky she didn't kill anybody on 620. That stretch of road is quite a ride.

UPDATE: O'Brien has already amended his filing, to include additional information about Lehmberg's alleged behavior at the jail. According to the amended petition, Lehmberg was "highly combative, attempting to kick and spit at officers, screaming curse words as well as yelling 'Call Greg!', likely a reference to Sheriff Greg Hamilton." According to O'Brien, Lehmberg was then restrained in a chair with a "spit restraint" attached to her face. In an email to media, O'Brien wrote that the new information was obtained from a source inside the Travis County Sheriff's Office and confirmed by two witnesses."

any punishment that the judge hands down he better ready to defend himself against giving someone else anything more.

See link.

Looks like she was convicted of a Class A misdemeanor and got 45 days in the slammer, $4,000.00 fine, and her license suspended for 180 days.

That's a pretty good kick in the *** for a first offense DWI with no injuries. In light of the slap on the wrist the system dished out on that filthy, spoiled little ***** who killed somebody I don't think a worse punishment for Lehmberg would have been just.

Having said that, Lehberg has no credibility prosecuting offenders anymore, and she should resign immediately.

Just saw the video of her in Jail....she acts she is above the law and tells a jail employee "you're not in a position to act like you are."

I have voted against her in every election, which usually meant I didn't vote at all for DA, since she ran unopposed in Nov.. This is the wackjob that Austin libs have put into office repeatedly. She needs to GO

If she is that coherent with a .23 bac, she is a serious alcoholic. Most people would be almost passed out by that point.

That's a really big senetence for a first time DWI, but she still needs to resign.

I'm wondering is it normal to film these sort of circumstances in jail? I understand the CCTV footage from the ceiling but clearly some of the footage is from someone holding a camera. Surely they don't do this for everybody.

C'mon Deez, he may not look like an attorney but it helps him sneak up on them! He's in a rock band too. I know somebody in the band with him.

I am sure that Jamie what's his name is a good attorney at what he does. He is a specialist at it I am sure. She should have called him. Oh the irony in that had she done so.

The videos now circulating are pretty bad.
You would think she would know the jail scene well enough not to have done all that, even if drunk.

I cannot see how she can keep her job, and I hope she doesn't. Maybe she might have had a point if her blood alcohol level hadn't been almost 3 times the legal limit. She is extremely lucky that she didn't kill someone on 360.

Mr. Deez, that was a pretty overwhelming mixtape of incrimination someone put together there. Wow is right. What an amazingly unpleasant person she seems to be.

I wonder whether there could be a political compromise offered from the Perry side, suggesting a middle of the road Democrat professional prosecutor, not a political hack, whom he would agree to appoint to the position. Maybe he could pick the most professional fair person that he could imagine who could really be reelected in Travis County. If so, maybe the Dems would cave in on her. Then, maybe we would have a solid non-politico in the job for years to come.
