Toughest game in 2008

SW.....

The points I made were relative to the conversation at hand. I did not return with "Arkansas has nicer facilities" or any other strawman argument.

The point being made was calling opponent "A" a tough opponent while "B" is not, has led to some disappointing losses for UT.

Just because an Arkansas fan thinks arky will be one of our toughest game doesn't mean we do. And it doesn't mean that it will be.

OU, Tech, aggy, KU, Mizzou. In that order.

OU & Tech.

Sidenote: For someone with the moniker "whocares2008", you sure seem to care a whole lot about piggie. Is there something behind all this we should know about?

I got baked to a crackly crunch in the upper deck of DKR in 2004; I never realized arky's uniforms had striped across them until now (if I ever sit that high again I'm bringing binoculars).

And since I don't remember the last time Texas ran roughshod over arky, I think whocares2008 is probably right: it IS going to be a tough game.

Stat, take a deep breath brother.

My whole point, and you got it, was that it seems to me that some here are overlooking a team that lives and breathes for the opportunity to beat Texas.

I'll put it this way, there is no one game on the Arkansas schedule that will have greater meaning than the match up with Texas. Razorback hatred for the Horns does not sway with coaching changes. Now, take that however you want.

IMHO it will be one of the toughest Saturdays of your year.

Arkansas is not going to be good in 2008. KU, OU, Mizzou, Tech, and probably A&M will all be better than Arkansas. Maybe OSU as well.

There is a good chance that Arkansas could be starting true freshmen at almost all the skill positions, other than QB. And the QB will be Casey Dick. The Arkansas defense will be the worst its been in years. I can't begin to explain how bad the secondary is.

Strangely, as an Arkansas fan, I expect it to be a fun season with a lot of young players playing and a new system implemented, but not a good one. Making a bowl game would be a big positive.

The only way the above could change a little bit, is if Mallett somehow was granted eligibility, and that's about a .01% chance. And even if he does, he doesn't play defense.

WhoCares: Where in the **** do you piggies get the notion that Petrino is so god-like? You guys have him like Carroll, Stoops, Meyer and Brown all rolled up into a nice package just for you. Where do you get this notion? From his "dynasty" built at Louisville? Seriously? The dude built a solid team in C-USA and took it into the Big Least. Big ******* deal. South ******* Florida was just as impressive. He certainly worked miracles for the Falcons last year before bailing on them to become lionized in the hills.

I'm not saying that he won't be a good coach.. he probably will, but please tap the breaks on this "you lost to Nutt, what is Petrino going to do you?" **** and call me when you guys have a few skins on your wall not related to track and field and maybe I'll listen.

We beat arky by no less than 20, they're terrible. Tech in lubbock will be tough, but to the poster who's brother goes to Tech and claimed the defense looked REALLY good...too small, too slow, mediocre coaching...it will be a tough game, but it will have nothing to do with tech's D.
Home vs Mizzou is my choice, they're a good team, and we're either coming off an emotional win or loss vs ou the prior week. It's just a lot to ask.

Without a doubt the toughest game is OU.
If Texas plays a great game in lubbock, Texas WILL win without question. If we dont play a great game then things will get interesting.
However Texas MUST play a great game against OU to give us a chance. IF we dont play a great game then things could get ugly.

If you don't think Tech in Lubbock is one of the top 2 hardest games on our schedule then your crazy. The last time this game was in Lubbock, UT was alot more talented and Tech was alot less talented, but theres just something about a rival going into that hostile (and sometimes dangerous) crowd. They return 18 starters, 9 of which are on defense. You can say what you want about the players on their d just not being that talented, but when you return that many starters on a defense your bound to have a much improved defense.

Sooners and Raiders should be the toughest. Night games on the plains (you know it'll find its way to primetime if both are highly ranked) suck *** through a straw and have given us challenges for years.

The thieves will be loaded too.

After those two, I'm most worried about:

CU (at Boulder week before OU could be a "trap" game)
then
Missou and KU (one hit wonders or new North powers?)
then
Pigs and Sheep

I still say atm. This is a game that they view as their super bowl and it is Sherman's opportunity to lock in a 10 year contract extension. Coupled with the fact that the Horns have taken an off game against them for the past 3 seasons and this one can easily go the way of aggy. It is "tough" for Texas to get emotionally prepared for this game and take care of business. OU, not so much. Hopefully Coach BMF helps with this issue.

I wouldn't put too much stock in Tech's last year's defense. They have added some very good players one of which is Miami transfer Chris Perry. Also added two really good JUCO DE's and my brother told me they moved L.A. Reed (one of their wide receivers) to SS because he is a very good open field tackler... I remember watching him on special teams he was always the first one down field and usually always made the hit. Plus they do have depth now on Defense which is always key. And their new defensive coordinator is changing things up big time on D from what my brother has told me. Of course I'm just relaying this from what I've been told so take it for what it's worth. I happen to follow Tech football close... they are my 2nd favorite team to watch and have made the trip to Lubbock many times to watch games with my dad and brother...and yes it is very hostile place to play. Like I said I plan on attending their Spring game on the 19th with my bro... so I'll be able to gauge how good they will be this season. At least we know the South will be a lot more interesting this season which makes our game with you guys that much more important this season... can't wait!

No doubt about it:
Land Thieves vs. Legitimate Land Owners. Dallas, TX

Please don't feed the beast that is whocares08. His very username should tell you how to view his erroneous claims of piggy relevance. Arkansas is a joke. We know it, and I am sure he does to. Otherwise he wouldn't be over here talking about how tough of a game Arkie will give the Horns.

Like they say: If you have to tell someone how tough you are, odds are you aren't $hit. Or you are aggy.

Arkansas won't be our toughest game, but they will show up. Petrino is going to want that signature win right off the bat. It will be early in the season, so Greg Davis may still be in fetal mode.

Texas 28
Arkansas 24

I would say FAU is going to be the game which I am most interested in. That game will tell me if our new DC is as good as advertised. I am also interested in seeing the offense dominate the LOS and score at will against FAU. They are no slouch, but they should still be a push-over.

Arkie, so tough they ran away from us to play aggy. Not too worried. KU, Mizzou, Tech, aggy, and OU are better.

Any serious analysis of this question leads one to conclude that BlowU in Dallas is our toughest game, as it is basically every year.
