Beanie Wells will play. He's hurt, so was James Brown when he bit the bullet & floored A$M 16-6.

the Bucks have a solid D... maybe not enough to win, but definitely enough to keep it a game.

Who is USC? The "new" USC that is. Who have they played & beat since Vince's ******* all went pro? Maybe they are the real, maybe not.

Personally i would love to see a USC blow out. Who doesn't love a Big 10/tOSU loss on the national stage. Add in that i was a couch in a previous life and want to save my siblings from being torched in Columbus

24-14 USC

This one just seems too obvious. EVERYONE is calling for the USC blowout, so I'm starting to think that OSU will walk into the Coliseum and surprise people. I think they lose, but they keep it close, and the game comes down to the wire.

A lot of people are pointing to Ohio State's game last week as an indicator that they will play poorly again.

I say different. They played well enough in week one. They've now had some weaknesses exposed and I'm sure their coaches addressed them during practice this week. Probably chewed them out hardcore to put it lightly.

USC has only had one game and they looked good. They haven't found out what their weaknesses are and therefore haven't been able to do anything about them. They might be set up for a game like Ohio State had last week.

On paper, I still think USC wins, but I think whoever wins, the other team will still be in it in the fourth quarter.

Much of the hoopla over this game is rooted in the past. The classic Big X/Pac X matchup, the history of the Trojan/Buckeye Rose Bowl tilts, heismans, and, of course, the recent success of both programs. Part of that success is the glamour that USC exudes and part of the success id OSU's back-to-back losses in the MNC game, a game that raises ire and complain in re the BCS system, etc., almost every year. The Big X being down the last two years has finally caught Big X bashers in a favorable part of the college football power cycle, as well. As a result, I think that the line against OSU is a bit inflated. I think the odds makers know there is a tendency to inflate USC and deflate OSU. That's how I see it.

USC is replacing 6 or 7 guys on O and a number of important contributors on D, including key players in the front 7. They lost alot on both lines, actually, and have a relatively green QB under center. The talent is there, but the experience is a little thin. It takes QBs time to get acclimated to elite level Ds and it takes time for OLs to gel. I have no doubt that USC has better overall talent, but this early in the season, with only one game under their belts, I tend to think that they are going to struggle at times in this game.

It should not be high scoring and it should be won in the trenches like any classic matchup between teams that basically run pro-style Os most of the time.

OSUs D is good enough to keep them within striking distance. The question is will OSUs OL have the kinds of problems they exhibited against SEC speed rushing DEs. I don't know if USCs DL is on par with UF's DEs or LSUs overall package, including a stud that was reactivated for the championship game.

OSUs OL has some weakness at C and RG. The RT is also new and really ought to be playing RG, but he has played pretty steadily so far, so the jury is out. The Buckeye OL is capable of playing really well, though to date I don't think the '08 incarnation has really seen the light of day (YSU was platoon city and OU was crippled by play calling, especially in the first half).
Boeckman is not an elite QB, and is sometimes just awful. The WRs are above average, but nothing stellar. Without Beanie to help keep the USC D in check, OSU is likely to have trouble moving the ball and will try to play field position. Tress want a game that runs 20-17 or so, either way.

I tend to think OSU's O will find a way to get enough good plays in to keep field position from becoming a nightmare. I also tend to think that OSU's D will keep them close.

I think USC prolly ends up winning like 21-13 or 20-16. That's the spread I would expect.

How do you propose that Ohio State is going to score? USC's strength is the back 7 of their defense. They're not going to be doubling Brian Robiskie and Brian Hartline.

My thoughts The Link

As all know, or should, I don't do predictions. Blowout? Last minute FG? Damned if I know.

Here are some things to think about.

If USC had beaten Duke would everyone be so sold on the USC offense? No. Actually Duke is a better team than VA so as far as I'm concerned the USC offense hasn't proved much yet. Could they? Sure, but they haven't yet.

USC replaced 7 starters on offense. I guarantee that they have not played a defense as good as Ohio State. Can they handle that? They might, but they might not.

Sanchez reminds me of Chad Henne. Rocket arm, less than mobile, running a basic NFL offense. That's not the kind of offense that gives tOSU trouble.

tOSU showed nothing vs. Ohio U. Nothing. In the first 22 minutes of the game, there was one pass down field. The rest were less than 4 yds beyond the LOS. No counters. No traps. No reverses. No 5-wide. 8 snaps for Pryor.

In any case, I'll be on the 10 yd line, 72 rows up in the LA Memorial Coliseum on Sat. night. I'll see if I can get some pix of the USC Song Girls for Hornfans.

The line for this game was USC -4.5 three weeks ago. It was USC-10.5 on Monday, and is at -11.5 today.

The betting public obviously thinks that USC is going to kill Ohio State. Maybe you are smarter than everyone else. We will see. I locked in early.

I was going to say..........anytime the public is going crazy in a game like this, you probably want to look the other way.

The Bucks' D will keep them in this. Doubt they win but it should be a 4 quarter game. This won't be like the USC-NU game.

USC 31 Ohio State 17

SC will cover the spread.

I could see SC doing their best to piss the game away. However, there were some big differences from SC in game 1 we haven't seen in some time, doesn't bode well for the rest of college football. We'll see if it's just a red herring or Pete finally made the necessary changes to being a championship team again.

Ohio State is a typical slow, fat Big 10 team. If the play calling sucks and Sanchez throws two picks (he's a turnover machine) SC only wins like 24-20 or something.

What's this about Chris Wells not playing? Cue the excuses Ohio State.
