Torrea Peterson chooses academics

Dallas Griffin - Draddy Trophy
Kris Stockton - Phi Beta Kappa (in Econ btw)
Chris Ogbonnaya - Academic All-American and Draddy Semi-Finalist

I'm not going to pretend that our players don't take their nice share of stuffer classes, but the record of our players seem to indicate that academics aren't blown off in Coach Brown's program. Most of them major in Kinesiology...Major, JB, Kyle Shanahan, Beau Trahan... they all seem to be doing well and kicking *** in their chosen field like most Texas graduates do.

I think we can just chalk it up to OU being a better "fit" academically for that particular kid. Maybe he would have struggled here.

In the end, we get the people we should get, and the Bomar's, Perrillioux's, McFarland's and perhaps in this case Peterson's go where they should.

I feel sorry for the kid for being so sadly misinformed about the quality of academics at blowu.

it's not like he said the academics at OU are BETTER than texas, he just said they are good. you act like it isn't a university or something. i know you guys love to talk academic smack, ESPECIALLY on the recruiting board, but there is really nothing to see here.

is UT a better overall school than OU, i think the answer is clearly yes based on a lot of evidence. does that mean your OU degree is worthless? please.

OUE, you need to quit being so rational...they're liable to ban you from the okie sites.

I posted earlier here that I think academics generally only matters in recruiting potential Phi Beta Kappas. A lot of football recruits give lip service to choosing a team based on academics, but most truly choose based on their chance for playing time, the team's chance to win, team location, or for their personal reasons.

I don't, as a habit, agree with much posted here by okie fans, but this time, I think trashing another school's academics is sorta like not seeing the forest for the trees.

To the person talking about ut athletes slacking in classes, yes it happens. But, theres also athletes who are good students. Fozzy Whittaker was in my Spanish class and he was one of the most active students in the class. Had another class with Bobino and he was very vocal.

The young man is sadly misinformed, as is anybody who claims that blowu somehow is even an average national university.

But blowu DOES excel at something: it has SEVEN major NCAA infractions (and a long list of minor infractions) to its credit.:

And, OBTW, some blowu fan asked:

Pericles, thanks for proving my point so convincingly, but was it difficult landing a job with a diploma from Texas State? At least you got a Longhorn t-shirt out of it, though.

So that means it is easy for football players to graduate at those schools. That could mean a lot of things, some of which are not impressive.
