Alright people. It's that time again. I'm looking forward to this season. It's TOO early to make predictions I think but I cannot wait to see what these contestants can cook up!

When's the first show? Let me guess, it was tonight?

I thought it was a decent episode. First episodes on reality shows are tough, and particularly so on Top Chef. You get a lot of characters thrown at you very fast who immediately get thrown into a situation which makes it harder to tell them apart. That said, I liked the quickfire challenge a lot. They don't usually start with a task which requires so much technical competence... and just when I was about worry that we were going to lose someone without seeing their flavor profile they had to use the product of their labor. That it would come down to two jackasses who, when presented with perfect cooking apples, come up with salad... and they both ultimately go home... I felt pretty good about that.

Not sure what I think about the contestants in general. This is the first time in a few seasons they've gone back to culinary students, dishwashers and stay at home moms... but that's good to, even though they don't have a chance to run the table. I like both of the euros, it will be interesting to see what they do.

As far as first episodes go, it was good. As far as regular episodes go... it was alright.

Looks like the Swede is going to be tough to beat. The judges were really impressed with the little guy from Hawaii, though.

Solid episode. I missed the quick fire challenge so I gotta try and catch that this weekend. The Euro appears to have a great deal of game.

I'm looking forward to see what happens myself, but, why did the only decent looking female on the show have to get kicked off on the first show. I guess I'll have to pay attention to the cooking this season.

Pretty good. I already hate the Swede. Leave the country if you're going to talk crap. If I lived in Europe or Asia, I assure you there would be consequences for talking like that.

The further I get away from the ep, the happy I am with it. I'm so glad to have TC back.

Rama, Padma was a model for a while. There are all kind of pictures of her out there.

Another interesting episode tonight. Judges made the right decision to eliminate Jill. Although, I did like the risk that she took by using an ostrich egg but too bad she didn't make a unique dish out of it.

I thought the hot dog challenge earlier in the show was brilliant! It was interesting to see the contestants come up with their very own version of a hot dog. I loved it!

I'm confused, was the ostrich egg really a risk? Clearly it was new to her, but anytime someone uses it on Iron Chef they say the only difference between it and a chicken egg is size (and of course the thickness of the shell). By making a quiche with it, she effectively made it an exotic dish in name only. When you add that to terrible defense of herself, I think she punched her own ticket.

Good episode... but they pretty much all are. This is a great show.

I kinda thought Arian should have gone. Yea Jill took something that was unique and dumber it down, but at least it was edible. Arian's food wasn't even edible, and represented far less risk. The fact that it was also a dish that she said they make in her restaurant all the time is even more reason to kick her off. She makes it all the time, but then cannot make it even edible? I say judge fail on this one, but it really doesn't matter at this point. Neither she nor Jill was going to last very long.

I also hate the guy who didn't tell Arian her thing sucked when she asked him about it. He then says off camera "yeah it was too sweet, but it is a competition". What an a-hole. If you have to resort to borderling sabotage to try and elevate yourself in a competition you probably shouldn't be there. You should be able to put out food good enough to beat her.

Again, I think the talent seems underwhelming, probably just me.

Lots of lazy actions. Who wrapped the hot dogs i n the spring roll paper?

The crab salad? Come on now. He threw a mango salad and some spices on it. I think generally, doing a salad is taking the easy way out.

Hmmm..I'm not sure if i agree with the judges decision to eliminate Alex. In my opinion, I think Melissa should have been the one to go.

It was a good episode overall.

Yeah, it does seem like the judges never like her food. Maybe they see something there. Arianne looked completely incompetent for the first couple of episodes and now she's doing well, so who knows.

Whenever Rocco is on you know it is going to be a media ***** challenge. While I agree that part of the job of owning a restaurant is your ability to promote yourself and your place... this challenge really missed the mark for me. If you want to be Bobby Flay, this is important. If you want to be Eric Rippert less so. It is like kicking someone out of the NBA for not getting endorsed by Nike. The first responsibility should be to the food.

As to the elimination... I didn't really care, as both chefs were pretty damned incompetent. Melissa obviously did not try her dish (even though she says she did). Alex made a stupid selection of items which he never had a chance of pulling off. He suggests he should get points for picking something hard... but creme brulee isn't difficult it is just time consuming. So who goes home, the person who satisfied the requirements of the challenge (making something, albeit inedible) or the person who is just incalculably stupid? Who cares, they'll both be gone soon.

Jamie (despite under cooking the egg), Stefan, Fabio, Leah all seem to be in front right now. Good season so far.

Yeah, that Melissa girl should've left.

I don't know what a hot chick like Leah sees in Josea. And what is with Daniel's beard, lol.

They made the right choice this week. The eliminated chef was completely cluess that em's food was just plain bad. (Name eliminated to avoid "spolier" flaming). How many times have we seen the chef who continues to say their dish was good, despite the judges telling them it was not, get eliminated?
Funniest part: Stefan flaming Jeff's dish, only to then have the judges talk about how good it was

The idea that people want to put together their own food at a bridal shower is unbelievably bad. and then forget to even tell them?
