top 5 sandwiches available in Austin

Texadelphia's "other" sandwiches are pretty good.
The Black Forest at Fox & Hound is good, yes, Abel's has some good ones, also, New World Deli and 34th St. Cafe have some good stuff. then again, I'm not very picky.

It begins and ends with a Club on Wheat from The Little Deli in Crestview. You really can't go wrong with a sandwich from that place.

Cuban Sandwich at Habana on S. Congress
Turkey Reuben at NeWorlDeli on Lamar/41st-ish
#3 Meatball at Belladonna on Burleson

I never thought I'd say this, but I think I now like Delaware's cheesesteak better than Texadelphia's. Especially on Thursdays.

The Platano Loco (just like the Cuban except no bread) at Habana.

The beef or chicken Philly cheesesteak at Delaware subs is great.

****. How'd u come upon that restuarant? All I remember over there was a Tejano dancing place and some taco joint shut down by the health department.

Hope it wasn't Happy Taco. They're actually pretty good.

My office isn't far from there, and I don't mind exploring. I think I went for the first time with some co-workers who had been before, but I was going every week for a while. Their club is also pretty tasty. If they had fries I'd probably eat more of their burgers than is healthy, too.

ANYTHING FROM LITTLE DELI

too bad you're not in oxford with me for mozzarella, parma ham, and pesto panninis. best sandwhich ever. the only british food i could possibly imagine missing.

i used to rave about the philly cheesesteak & chicken parmesean at delaware sub but i haven't stepped foot in there since february after one of their employees got in an argument with me in the parking lot about "touching his car" with my car door. i opened my door and it softly touched his car door. i didn't slam it in there and if anything, just barely touched. he came out in the parking lot and got in an argument with me. i even told him at first "hey sorry man" but after a while he took down my licensce number and threatened to call his insurance company.

i have told this story to all of my friends too. the mesa location was practically down the street from me and i would eat there almost once a week. i haven't given them my business since.

sadly, i used to rave about their sandwiches.

There's a great sandwich at Portabella, a little spot on 6th next to Z Tejas. Homemade bread, big chunks of turkey, cornbread dressing, cranberry and mayo. It's awesome. It's like the day after Thanksgiving everyday.

Texas97- what's his car look like? I'm sure all of us hornfans posters can make a trip down there and really hit his car hard to teach that a-hole a lesson.

he was actually driving a black mercedes-benz. go figure. i would understand if i hit his car but it barely touched it. plus if he is so anal about it, why is he parking it in front of the store??? park it where noone else does.

hey, great sandwiches but the guy was a serious *******. at first, i thought he was coming out b/c of maybe a problem with my credit card like he needed to run it again.

big deal, if there was a scratch, offer to pay for it; if there was no mark at all, tell him to go **** himself. there are a few pricks who work in that mesa one; bunch of high school burnouts.

I was not impressed with Castleberry's. I'm always looking for a good sandwich place so here are my observations:

The place on 6th is Portabla. It has a good roast beef sandwich as well.

Little City also has a good roast beef sandwich. The spicy mayo is quite good.

I wish Delaware Subs was still on 5th. I don't get to the 'burbs too often.

I really like the Summer Sub at the Great Outdoors in Dallas. Anybody know if there's something similar here? It has Muenster, Cream Cheese, Cucumber, & Fresh Mushrooms on Wheat. Add avacado and it's awesome.

The Cheesesteak at Hog Island Deli (1612 Lavaca), and pretty much any other sandwich they serve there. Had a med cheesesteak there last night. Awesome, even if the bun was on the small side. A touch pricey though.

Classic Italian at Delaware.

Philly at Delaware
Italian Sausage at Delware
Roast Beef & Guacamole at Thundercloud
Anything at Texadelphia
Anything at the Little Deli
