Titans Vs. Raiders

Michael Huff plays for the Raiders, so everyone go watch him. It's on Fox at 7pm.. er now. And I think we may have a player or two on the Titans, but I'm not sure.

Holy **** have you seen his damn wife? I saw her once on TV-smokin hot....

Guess he told her when they first met that he played a character on the Sapranos.

in the first quarter, Michael Huff broke up a pass intended for Bo Scaife thrown by Vince Young.

looked like freakin summer practices out there for Texas

We....the raiders (die hard here) have a great Pass Defense.

Rush defense not so much.

I am sorry but Vince Young looked like **** tonight. We have a good defense but 4/13 for like 37 yards? Granted I know they're the greatest receivers, but we don't have that great either and we performed somewhat

People are going to say that VY did not look good tonight, but the difference in looking good and looking bad was WR play, and he did not get any help from his pass catchers tonight. There were a number of dropped passes, but the biggest problem was that his guys did not play for the football. The Oakland DB's put on a clinic in driving to the football and coming to the ball. The Titans' receivers telegraph their routes and allow themselves to be cut off by stopping short and anticipating the ball instead of getting it.

No, Vince's numbers were not great, and no, he will never be a Peyton Manning like passer. Even so, he put the ball in the right place tonight but his poor WR corps were the ones being dominated.

You'd think that Vince would play more than 1.5 quarters, since it was obvious he needed some work. At least the Titans running game looks decent.

Vince playing longer is not going to make his WR's faster, more physical, or play the ball better.

Pre-season games are nothing more than a practice where the head coach does not control the environment. They are more than 3 weeks away from playing a game that matters, and he can get his reps in a field where he is a lot less likely to be injured.

These games are about finding out who your 5th WR and 6th corner back is going to be, and what linemen are going to be backups and who is going to the practice squad. They know what Vince can do. He got out exactly when he should have.

What happened to the new OC working on Vince's footwork? He still has poor footwork and keeps throwing from the backfoot. One time he let his feet underneath him, he threw a dart over the middle for like 15-yard gain. He'd better hurry up and fix his footwork or knowing NFL fans, there'd be clamors for trading Vince from Titans fans!

Didn't look so good, but scrambling was probably off the table, so the defense didn't have to stay honest. Still, those passes were not so hot.

You could have lined up Jerry Rice, Cris Carter and Randy Moss out there, and Vince might have gone 6 for 13. His passes weren't anywhere near the receivers.

I'd love to say it's because he's trying to adjust his motion and do what they're teaching him to do, and it's only interfering with his delivery, but I'm concerned that ain't it.

Then they show two clips of him not stepping into throws where he had players at his feet and another where he rolled out and stepping into the throw would have meant taking a shot in the chest from a charging linebacker mid-throw.

DING! DING! DING!

If they want VY to move up in the pocket and step into his throws then THEY HAVE TO CREATE A POCKET!
Granted, he could've looked better but he was harrassed almost every down. Where's the O-line? Who was supposed to pick up those blitzes? That was the problem more than his recievers.

I love the Horns till I die, but it is quite interesting to hear some criticism on VY on these boards. Not so close-minded Horn Fans here.

Quite deserved too after the Raiders game.

I do hope him the best and hope something clicks and starts performing better.

i loved the commentary during the game. it went something like this

'the wide out missed his hot route.'
'theres another missed hot route. i dont know whose fault that was'
'maybe this offense doesnt have hot routes...'

If you want to know how bad the Titan's WR's are, take a look at who they run out as their third receiver. It's Texas' own Bo Scaife.

Don't get me wrong, I love Bo. He is underrated as a tight end and given his draft position, he has had a nice little NFL career. It is a credit to his talent and ability to try and create a mismatch that they opt to split him out so often. With that said, Bo is not going to cause any NFL defensive coordinators to lose sleep as a 3rd WR.

Vince's play is part of the equation and there is little doubt that he has room to improve. However, any discussion of his passing numbers is incomplete without leading with the fact that Tennessee does not even have a 2nd tier NFL wide receiver on their roster. Their starters would be either 3rd string or practice team players in New England or Indy.

Vince is working hard to make the system work, but the system needs to adjust. They are a running team with a talented QB and NO ABILITY at the WR position. Run the ball, call play action, and Vince's second read needs to be for a running lane.

As long as Fish is there, it's a running game first. Why not switch to the wishbone-Vince left, Vince right with trailing backs! This **** is mind-numbing. Trade VY to a team that would know how to use him! Please!!!!!!!!!!!!

At one point, Bo Scaife lined up as a 3rd WR, as Extra Large mentioned, and ran a hitch and go..... really Heimerdinger??? I hope they were just experimenting with some different things and that they don't plan on using him in that fashion during a real game.

On the other hand, Ealy looked impressive on the last drive, but I can't recall if he played while Vince was in the game. Once Kerry Collins came in, I stopped watching and ate some dinner... yeah, whatever, I'm a terrible fan, blah blah blah.

Vince hasn't had the career that we hoped he would so far, but it is criminal what the Titans are doing to him on offense. He has NOTHING to work with.
