Ticket question

MIZtigersZOU

< 25 Posts
So...I was planning on coming to Austin for the Mizzou/Texas game later this fall...but...the Mizzou allotment sold out within a few hours of being on sale...and...of course...at Mizzou they have to cater to the money people before students.

Anyway...what are the chances I can get a ticket from either the UT ticket office or another source?

Texas home games have been a preseason sellout for several seasons so you won't be able to get tickets from our box office. But, there are always tickets available from scalpers, so come on down. And you will love the tailgating scene here.

BTW, do you know that ou sucks?

Yeah, you're going to have to get them from a third party. Texas Box Office won't be an option.

Bring some cash with you to the game, and you will be able find a scalper to sell you a ticket. They are all around the stadium grounds, I know people that have never missed a game using this method. You may not have a great seat, but with the right amount of cash ($75 maybe?) you can get something decent. It gets more difficult if you are looking for a few seats together, but if it's just 1 ticket your after...no problem.

Also try Craigslist. But I will say that a lot of students sell their tickets on Craigslist, and you'll need a student ID to get in if you have a student ticket. So make sure you buy from someone that's not selling a student ticket.

Check out the 'Swap Meet' section of HornFans the weeks leading up to the game. You may find a good deal.

Many of the fans won't sell to you if you are an opposing fan. Some will, many won't and most will specify this ahead of time.

Usual precautions on Craigslist should be used. There are many that are legit and won't rip you off, others will. Just employ the same logic you would any other time.

I suggest printing a copy of the stadium to take with you when you scalp tickets if that is what you do. There will be individual fans not working for a scalper company walking around with their fingers in the air to show the amount of tickets they have to sel. The scalpers are the lame guys standing around looking stupid with signs that say, "I need tickets". I think this is a technicality of the law that makes them do this.

But with your chart you can know what you are buying and know if you are getting a good deal or not. I suggest trying to sit in the South Endzone. It will be really quiet in that section compared to others that may have the band or students in it.

If you like steak, I suggest either Morton's or better yet, the Rainbow Cattle Company downtown somewhere. They use organic beef. I assume you will be able to taste the differences.

Face Value on the tickets is $80. Expect to pay about $100/ticket. I would recommend going to Scholtz's and the surrounding areas meeting people at tailgates, they usually have extra tickets, especially for Missouri. Offer to pay and they will look at the tickets and say x number of tickets times face value. Matter of fact that is how I got my tickets at the 01-02 Missouri game in Columbia. The older couple even said I didn't have to pay them, we did. They told us that this Texas team just didn't draw, I think he was joking, but the stadium was only 3/4 full.

No, it will be a quiet peaceful atmosphere devoid of the band and tons of students. You should go to Rainbow Cattle Company and sample the meat they have to offer before you critique my suggestions to this young man coming to Austin.

I suspect that the Rainbow Cattle Company serves tube steak when you enter through the back door, so I'll not take you up on that offer/suggestion.
