Thread to discuss teams and games not involving Texas in 2021-2022

So....Maryland(#3) beats Baylor(#6) 79-76, rises up to #2 and then just lost to NC State(#5) 60-78.

Looking at the box score for Maryland/Baylor both teams used just a total of 7 players each side.

Maryland played without at least two starters - Diamond Miller and Katie Benzan. Neither Benzan or Faith Masonius traveled to the Bahamas due to illness.

Baylor only lists ten players on their website.

Yeah, I was tracking them before school started and they had 9. Suddenly they picked up a freshman player to make it 10. They have two true freshman for this year's class.[/QUOTE]

So, Stanford beat #4 Indiana on Thursday; but, then lost to South Florida today. The same South Florida team that played UConn and Tennessee pretty tough in close losses.

Iowa plays at Duke on ESPN tonight at 4:00 CT.
The Duke/Iowa game shows to be scheduled for today at 8PM CT
But there is a good game today at 11am CT as 6-0 Georgia visits 6-1 Texas Tech.
And Iowa State visits the Sea Hag at LSU at 8 pm CT

Iowa St vs LSU is at 8:00 tonight as well. With Texas volleyball tonight and all these games of interest my DVR may explode

You’re right about the Iowa-Duke game time. Haven’t had a cup of coffee over here on the West Coast yet! Thanks for catching my error.

Texas Tech put 21 points on Georgia in the 1st Qtr and I think only two were from Vivian Gray. Lead 21-14

add: Georgia has the #9 defense in the country

Georgia beat Texas Tech

Duke beat Iowa

LSU beat Iowa State

Texas-Arlington beat South Florida
Yesterday I happened to turn on the channel while Duke/Iowa was underway. I searched for Celeste and there she was wearing number "0". I watched the whole time and it was odd seeing her playing style, which is of course her new coach's playing style. Not strict man defense and she was often floating between players to see if someone needed to be covered. A couple of times you could see her clap and ask for the ball, but her teammates went a different direction based on what they saw. In the end, during a 10 minute period, I saw her score on a put back near the rim. Then, she got rotated out. Just odd after seeing her play the tight defense Karen and Vic wanted out of her.

Man I miss Celeste. Her on ball defense would continue to excel under Vic, and she was the best overall and offensive player for Duke, draining 3's, driving, and pull up. Stuff that is missing with JAT, for now. Hopefully JAT finds her groove.

But I noticed Duke doesn't play tight defense but instead tries to keep the opponents in front of them. And Duke struggles BIG TIME with turnovers all over the place.

And....KA not doing so hot at UTSA. 1-4, with the only victory against Incarnate Word.
Everywhere KA has been a head coach she has been successful. I agree with you racer she is not looking too good this year but she knows how to recruit! Plus the fact that UTSA is getting a lot of notoriety with the success of the football team and the move to the AAC. San Antonio is a great place to live and the university is on the rise. I’m a KA fan and she needs a couple of years to build her team!!

I think KA will eventually have a respectable mid-major program at UTSA

Saw on the Rebkell Junkie Board forum that some feel that Tina Thompson’s days at Virginia are numbered. Poor showing by the team this season and she has zero recruits signed for 2022. There are complaints that she seems to prefer the transfer route and is not putting much effort into recruiting.

Yeah, Tina's days are numbered. I'm surprised she lasted this long to be honest. The signs are when players are constantly transferring out.

Celeste's highlights against Iowa. I'm a fan of hers despite her transfer.

Like winning, recruiting is hard!

Did she have any recruiting responsibilities here? Perhaps being a good assistant coach is not an indicator of head coach potential.

Unfortunately, none of the all-time Comets great, Cynthia Cooper, Sheryl Swoopes, and Tina Thompson have found success in coaching. Goes without saying, playing and coaching are 2 different animals.
