Thoughts on UH's baseball team

I don’t know a lot about them, but here’s a start:

- Regular season record: 41-14: conference record: 14-9
- Finished 3rd in conference behind Louisville and UCF
- Won their conference tournament final over Louisville
- Beat Rice all three times they met
- Beat Texas Tech 9-0 in the Houston College Classic before losing to Texas by a score of 2-3 (Parker French held them to one run in 7 innings) and TCU 1-2

i was very surprised the Horns got past aggy and rice...

i believe the coogs will handle the Horns this weekend and expect to see the middle finger between the pinkie and index finger many times...

it will takes some very good baseball to get over the coogs...

these are my thoughts

Playing a team that took 2 of 3 (which is all it takes to win a series or advance) from Super Regional team Texas Tech in Lubbock early in the season.

84 never any doubt Texas would win against aggy as aggy was overrated due to a flawed logic that any SEC member is the class of the field. The question was Rice.

Fairly equal teams. If Texas comes in focused and ready to hit, Texas could sweep. However if the Texas team that showed up for Kansas, OSU and TCU show up, Cougar High will sweep.

I just hope Texas isn't the only Big XII team to lose.

smarter coaching is needed with our lack of big offense...why try to steal third with a one run lead and one out (last night vs. aggy)...a base hit probably scores you anyway and you have two chances at it

Horns are on repeat in postseason...

Won Tech series, beat them in conf tourney
Lost 2 of 3 to OSU in reg season, same in conf tourney
Won season series 2-1 with Rice, beat them in regional

We own 1-0 advantage over UH. Until I see us show different results than repeating like the other 3 teams we faced a second time...I'll stay positive. We could just as easily win this series as they could. Simply be a battle of pitching dominance and who gives in. I tell you one thing, we better sharpen the defense over the past 2 games. We'll be fine.

Of note: First go round we played them with a few lifeless bats still in lineup...Montalbano and McGuire. Combined they were 0 for 6 in that game. Those guys went 25 of 153 (.163) before riding the pine for the rest of the season.

Now enter Colin Shaw and Madison Carter instead...78 of 264 (.295). That's quite the difference in offense at 2 of 9 spots. And the difference in OB% is even more of a huge gap with the 2 replacements. Just saying...it's a much better Texas lineup now.

yep that's the play..........i thought it was an odd time to risk a base runner unless a no-brainer...

overall i thought we were too risky over the weekend with base running when runs were at a premium...
