Thoughts on todays game?

I thought KU had better depth. KU is difficult to beat at a neutral site or on their court. KU shot alot better than UT also.

We played a good game against a good team and lost. I think we actually got a favorable seeding in the Houston regional and now we just have to win.

There are advantages and disadvantages of our scenario vs getting the #1 seed in the MW. Either way, I just can't get over another loss to KU in the Championship game. I know we played real well in the first half and didn't lose by much, but I feel like we have this monkey on our back and just can't get it off. We've exceeded expectations this year, big-time, but the loss is still hard to take. Perhaps the loss will help us focus for the dance. This team could either go all the way to the final game or lose as early as the second round. I believe we'll make it to San Antonio and am pretty damn excited.

Somehow I get the feeling Barnes just doesn't give a sh*t about the tournament, especially playing on Sunday afternoon.

Next year it will end on Saturday, which will give the team an extra day to rest. He still might play it the same way, though.

I wanted to win today, but they're still KU and they just shot their wad. I can't imagine them shooting this well again. They're going out after winning two games in the tourney, and we'll still be playing.

I'm done with talking about how Barnes doesn't care about the conference tournament, any more.

I don't know how much he cares or doesn't care. What I do know is that he's made it to 5 championship games in 10 years. The value in not caring about the conference tournament is to get an extra day or two of rest. That isn't happening.

If you look at the minutes his starters play, they're not getting any rest. That's another advantage of not caring about the conference tournament. Yet, here Texas is, supposedly with a coach who doesn't care about the conference tournament results, playing his starters for 35+ minutes per game on a regular basis --- not just this year, but the last three years.

I'm just not buying it anymore, and I don't think anyone who uses that excuse for the failure of Texas to win a conference tournament championship thus far has any legitimacy.

I've never once heard Barnes say he does not care about the conference tourney. He has said everything short of the fact that it is just about useless. The Horns won the regular season and he uses the tourney as a warm up and teaching tool for the NCAA tourney.

Does it make us feel better that we didn't win? No. However I don't think he values the conference tourney as highly than the regular season and NCAA's unless it means getting in or not.
