Thoughts on todays game?

Two evenly matched teams.. Really hard to perdict.. Feel it's going to come down to who has the freshest legs late in the game. And of course whos bench contributes more.

Glass. If Atchley is out there challenging shots, then the other guys have to close off the glass from offensive rebounders. If Atchley isn't out there trying to block a lot of shots, he'd better get a body on a man and hold position. If Johnson isn't playing, James is going to need serious help from everyone else in getting rebounds.

Wangmene and Pittman both played great yesterday, but I don't know if Pittman will be able to handle the speed of today's game, but maybe everyone will be a step slow since it's the third game in three days. Of course, last year's tournament championship was hardly a walk it up affair.

Edit: And Abrams hitting from outside would help.

I agree that Atchley is key today and he must stay out of foul trouble. Wangmene has been nails lately, but if he gets 20 minutes today that's not going to be a good thing. Should be an entertaining game and I'm taking the pts (UT +6).

Home game for KU. Watching on TV will seem like there almost isn't any Horns there. Hope Barnes & Co. are cutting down the nets and put an end to the chickenhawk BS.

we always seem to play our best for big games. hopefully facing ku a second time wont effect that.

The guards basically are an even match, but KU has a ton of depth up front. If Johnson's out/hobbled, that makes it worse.

I agree, Atchley has to make his man guard him at the arc. And his shot has been way off.

I think KU gets a lot of offensive rebounds that they didn't get yesterday.

Tom Brennan last night said he thought Texas had the best starting five in the nation (!!) but that Kansas had the best team. I'm not quite that high and Texas, but it is a matter of depth.

I thought last month's game could get ugly, and instead, Texas won. So, like last year's game in OKC, I'd take a tie with four minutes to go and see what happens.

I knew I shouldn't have posted; we went ice cold the rest of the game

What is it about the B12 championship game? No matter who won in the regular season, no matter who is more talented, etc.-- every year, same ******* story. I'm sick of history repeating itself.

I had figured KU would probably win this one - really got dominated inside in this game. I'm not sure anyone beats Kansas the way they played today, that was pretty impressive.

This was NOT a bad game for Texas. 3rd game in 3 days with a short bench, no Gary Johnson, crappy game from Damion James and most importantly a road game. Even if they weren't all Jayhawk fans, the rest of the big12 north LOVES to root against us.

We stubbornly stayed in the zone b/c this was our third game of the weekend with tired guys and short rotation with no GJ. I didn't mind the zone too much. Sure they were raining 3's over it and set a big12 champ. game record, but you better believe that if this was an NCAA tourney game, no way Barnes sticks with the zone if they are shooting like that. I'm proud of this team and if there were such a thing as moral victories, this was it. I just hope the seeding committee is not a bunch of f-tards and gives this team the 2 in the south given the schedule they played.

BTW, those jayhawk fans were pretty annoying throughout the game.

My thoughts are that if they didnt shoot lights out from 3.

We are out right Big 12 Champs.
But when they shoot like that...

your doomed.

We lost.........

In one way it sucks, but in another way, I'm not upset at all.

Have fun in Detroit, Kansas...........I'd rather go to Houston.

Horns played well for most of the game, but they will never reach their true potential until they stop having these extended scoring draughts, especially at critical times. You can't beat a team like Kansas without scoring in the last 4:30.

And playing zone on a team with 3 sharp-shooters is galactically stupid, we're not that good at it. I don't care about lack of depth, you've got to play mam-to-man.

Three games in a row playing against a team that we do not match up well with inside - and missing one of our best rebounders and defenders. That's why we stayed in a zone.

Pretty good game all around, but DJ needs to learn how to keep his cool in the end. He, and the rest of the team, looked a little freaked in the last two minutes.
