Their guards are killing us.Guard defense is killing us! Look at their guards, they are super quick and their guards are breaking our guards down whenever they want too
Coach G is gonna have to do a much better job recruiting if she expects to stay in there with a&m, baylor, and OK.....and that being said, she's nowhere close to even touching tenn or conn....she just doesn't have the horses.
Not 1 Senior stepped up this game. Thank God we have sum guards coming in I was impressed C.Reed game and AT game other then that. We had no one else to show up tonite.
No Horn fan can be happy with double digit losses for the women or the men, there is alot of room for improvement. Here is hoping next year is a better year.
BBV, I just can't lay this on Coach - guard play, guard play, guard play, we do not match up well with quick quards, ala Texas A&M redo. It's not the coach, IMHO. Yes, we could have won this game is we'd hit more shots, our FT, particularly, and some threes - but we didn't hit - 1-13 threes (I think) just won't cut it these days.
A coach can get a team ready to play, but s/he can't make the shots for them. We missed easy layups, must have free throws and our outside shot was non-existent. We beat ourselves... something this group has done time and time again.
Over half of this team was recruited by a previous coach with a different style of game.
Give Caoch G a couple more years to fill out her roster with her type of players. Change is good. Change is good.
Best of luck to our Seniors as they head out into the real world. I am sure each played their very best while wearing the burnt orange.
Here's to new faces and new attitudes on the court next year.
missed way too many lay-ups and made too many stupid passes to blame this loss on Coach G. my only critique from the coaching stand point was staying in the zone too long in the 1st half, when SDSU was raining 3s like it was nothing...should have switched back to man sooner than we did.
offensively, it was one of the worst game i've seen played all season. shots weren't falling at all. we got the defensive stops that we needed to make a run at it, but then we squandered it away on the offensive end...over and over again. definitely the most frustrating game of the season. we deserved to lose and probably should have lost worse than we did.
and yeah i agree that all the seniors collectively played a bad, bad game. which is disappointing considering that was their last game. not the way to end it.
This team does not have a single "go to" player who can be consistently counted on to deliver 20 plus points per game. In reality we need at least two of those, and one needs to be able to make 3s.....lots of them.
Next years' recruits are, with all due respect, no better than if even as good several of our conference opponents. Check the recruiting rankings if you doubt the accuracy of that statement. The one recruit from Minnisota who we really needed went to Ohio State.
We are missing on too many of top in state recruits who are opting for A&M, Baylor or out of state (Bone). The gap is not closing.
Something is not working in this program. Not sure what to attribute it to, but whatever it is, it needs to be identified and fixed. Maybe we were more broke when GG arrived than we realized.
B-Rave: I've enjoyed following your high school and college career. I'm still wondering what happened to that player that left high school. 4 yrs of college ball my my my how time flys. I wish you the best and be well my friend. I'm going to miss you!
As I've said before - we work, work, work on defense but our offense is null and void. If they spent as much time on offense as they do on defense we would be a different team. We haven't had offense all year. Something that I noticed yesterday - hi low w/ Reed and Gayle. They should have been doing this DAY ONE of practice. You can't practice new stuff at the end of the season. I always wondered why she didn't play them together more. She could have also used hi low w/ Kristen and Gayle or Reed. I know our bench is short but heck recruit some more players. I'm just puzzled by our lack of offense. It happens most games. And we have to practice, practice offense because we don't have a go to player. I was slammed because I said this a couple of months ago - but I'm going to say it again we need a GO TO player. Someone who can and will take over a game. We do not need any more role players.
I'm still puzzled on why Kristen would stay another year and why we want her to stay another year. Give that schollie to someone who can produce. NO MORE ROLE PLAYERS! We have enough of them. We need some gamers! Will we get the cream of the crop - not yet. But if we learn to recruit great players and gamers we'll do fine. Jena Morris - wasn't heavily recruited by top schools but she's a gamer. A McCoughtry wasn't a #1 recruit but she's a gamer. So there is a lot of talent out there - we need to learn how to find these top recruits under the radar and make our team great again.
I hope our recruits are gamers and are coming to the 40 acres to put on a show or we're going to be in big trouble. Raven- never lived up to potential is gone, Erika didn't live up to her potential after her injury is gone and Earnie great warrior but can't score consistently is gone - who scores for us now??
I know I'm going to get flamed but that's ok - FACTS ARE FACTS! We will drop to the bottom if our new recruits don't BRING IT!! GG's name has kept us in the polls but I don't think they will be that gracious any more. A #11 seed spanked us like we stole something. WE WERE EXPOSED yet again.
I do agree, Cokie is on the path to becoming a go-to post. She doesn't have a vast array of moves, but the ones she has, she knows how to do well. And she usually maneuvers into the right positioning before receiving the pass.
