This Team Is Tired

So you're saying that it took 26 games before the first team could figure us out? aggy couldn't figure us out after the first game with them?

Do you think Hamilton is now having trouble getting shots off because he is tired? Or are teams now all up in his grill with double teams?
I'll admit that we could be getting tired. That is absolutely possible.
But at the same time, I see with my own eyes the adjustments teams have made against us.
Heck, maybe thats why the team seems tired to you. I'll buy that.
But for you to dismiss my opinion as totally unreasonable is not fair.

But not as unfair as you asking me to explain aggy

Hamilton is missing shots because he's tired and he doesn't have the energy to defend like he did earlier in the season. Playing all this man defense will wear your *** out.

I knew we would hit the wall during the Big XII tourney, but I didn't think we'd hit it this early

i like barnes, but i can't stand it when his teams continually bog down offensively. i like hamilton, but i can't stand it when he takes bad shots and doesn't play defense. i like thompson, but i can't stand watching him shoot free throws. (all the practice in the world isn't going to overcome bad technique) there is a lot to like about this team, but they seem to be really lost right now. i am an optimist, but i'm not sure they can get it back. i really hope they can because they have shown flashes of brilliance.

Well, taken in isolation, the last two game are a case where the schedule makers did us no favor (playing at elevation in Boulder and then on Big Monday at home two days later). However, I do not know if Rick Barnes simply grinds his club mentally into dust. That NYT article linked is pretty damned telling as in a record of 19-18 in the NCAA tournament and an 0 for games between 8/9 seeds, etc.. I have posted on here prior that for whatever reason every kid bolts Texas at the first opportunity. We saw guys like Maurice Evans, Daniel Gibson, and PJ Tucker flee Texas to become 2nd round guys. Counter that with Coach K who has had seniors get picked in the 1st round. I can only surmise that something about the Texas program makes these kids leave at the first opportunity. Me, I stayed in Austin as long as I could!

Need to spread the floor on offense. Last nite we were all just stacked on each other. Switch your defense sum.
Depth is not the problem! And when your outside shot is not falling, take it inside. I was disappointed in J.Hamilton, G.Johnson, C.Joseph and J.Brown performance last nite.

Texas plays like this the rest of the year they will struggle to win a game. Something is wrong with this team not sure they even know what it is? Peaked too early? Tired? Not even sure what kind of seed Texas will get? They lose to Baylor and lose early in Big 12 tournament then they dont deserve any kind of high seed IMO. I have talked to a few people who think Texas is done for the year? I still think they can win a game or 2 in the tournament but I don't have alot of confidence in the Big 12 tournament. Maybe they can get hot again? I am not going to give up on them yet but damn what a difference 10 days makes. From looking like a Top 5 team to looking like a team unranked just does not make alot of sense to me?

if tired, they get 5 days before Baylor and another 5 before the B12. They'll be as rested as they could ever be.

I would think this also gives the Coaches lots of time to study videos of their team to see where they have pissed away something that was looking very special.

TT had 4 points in the 2nd half. JH and JB both didn't get their shots in the first half and so quit going to TT in the 2nd. He could have had 40 but we quit feeding the post. We just play stupid. That is the real problem.

When you mainly ride 6 horses, this is what happen at the end of the season. Especially with a young team. And Barnes should have figured that out last year. They are tired! You run a man to man defense the whole year. I never under stood, when we had big leads in games, why he did not go to a zone to rest the players. Now you see bad defense and no legs to shoot. But at least they got a little farther this year, before the wheel came off the wagon.

Our last 2 losses we allowed a FG% above 50%. On the year we allow 37%. I'd hate to see the FG% we allowed in the 2nd half of Nebraska, Colorado, and KSU games...bet it is well above 50%. All that tells me the team is tired. Our defense has been intense all year, and depth is lacking slightly to allow major rest. Looks like fatigue set in. Mental and physical probably. Starting with Nebraska we had 4 games in 9 days. And 2 of those road trips were long distance, to Neb and Colorado. Not like a game at Baylor, Tech, Aggie, etc. Those are long trips. And sandwiched in a very short period of time. Let's see what the extra rest this week, and short road trip to Waco do for our effort. I'm guessing we will play much more energetic and aggressive on Saturday. Then we get more rest before KC tourney. We take care of Baylor and I think we'll be fine heading to KC.

No question it is a tired bunch. There was a huge hangover that showed partially in the first half (bad shooting) and fully arrived in the second (bad shooting and bad defense). Should not have run full-bore at Colorado. Needed to pound it like they did in the first half on Monday.
