Not landing one 5 star prosect is a sign of lazy recruiting by Mack and his staff. We're at #14 in Rivals, just one step ahead of, oh, those ags. What an accomplishment Mack! Way to go... We will not win an NC with this group...
 
That is a terrible view on things.

I'm all for Mack saying "thanks, but no thanks" to recruits who plan on waiting until the last-minute to decide. I know some will disagree and cite the importance of recruiting studs (many of whom want to let the process play out). However, taking a class of 4* players and sprinkling in 5* players every now and again (all of whom want to come to Texas) is fine with me.

To be clear: they don't all have to commit in the summer. If a player wants to wait until after the high school season to take a couple of visits, no problem. However, no waiting until signing day.

We've got some good ones over the years with such an approach:

Wright, R and Blalock, J (committed Dec. 2001)
Young, V (committed Jan. 2002)
Kindle, S and Jones, E (committed April 2005)
Allen, T (committed April 2006)
Brown, C (committed Feb. 2006)
Gilbert, G (?)
 
Really? Not all of the great college football players are 5 star athletes, but I bet you knew that already.
 
I agree. Mack is lazy and this class is a low point for Texas football. Also, on an unrelated note, Vince young returning to get his degree is pointless and keeping the ou game in the Cotton Bowl is a tragedy.
 
I called Mack to let him know how you feel. He's terribly upset that he let you down.

He asked me to see if bringing in a 5 star tomorrow for the 09 class would make you feel better. K?

He also said he'll try to get off his lazy *** and get a couple of more 5* 'cause he REALLY doesn't want to be on your bad side two years in a row.
 
As has already been stated, you, my friend, are an idiot.

This may be Mack's best class if you look at the talent that has poured into the program the last two recruiting classes. We have 9 top 150 guys in this class to add to those two classes. That is sick.

Most kids shy away from a program that had back-to-back top 5 classes. Mack still nailed a solid class. Go back to smoking.

Is it a coincidence that the class that had six 5-star prospects in it is the one that won Texas' only NC in the last 30 years? I don't think so...

Not even top 10? Are you kidding me? What is everyone drinking?
 
So only one class contributed to our BCS title?

There are plenty of folks around here who have been around the block a few times. Some of us aren't even stupid.
 
Interestingly, the difference in points according to Rivals between #14 Texas and #15 Aggy is roughly the same between #6 Georgia and #14 Texas.

Rivals doesn't give out as many 5 stars as they use to. If you've been around this long, you would of course know that.

Try reading the DMN article I posted (CU Cheated?) and you might get a different idea on why he went to CU.

BULLETIN!!!! Colorado has just jumped the aggies, up to #15, thanks to one Darrell Scott. Unbelievable!

p.s. OU has three 5-stars (all from Texas).

p.s. Clemson (who?) has one 5-star (luckily not from Texas).
 
Can we have a "no Idiot" policy on the board? What cave do some of these posters crawl out of? This particular thread smacks of aggy.
 
What a stupid post. How many championships have USC won the past couple of years with all their 5 * prospects?

We have a very good team and we helped it today.

This is a good class and I am proud to have them.

why don't you head back to syria and farm some dirt. The main reason we didn't get scott is that we did not make a good enough offer to his mom. maybe if we offered her the governors job and and unlimited whataburger her son would have wanted to come here.
