The U

Just watched the show, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in college football. There really was nothing like the U at the time. There greatest legacy just might be "The Miami Rules" governing unsportsmanlike conduct. UT fans saw the worst of if on 1/1/91.

I have no problem with the players getting paid under the table as long as we aren't talking about $40k. $50 here, $100 there, $1000.

I can live with that. Dude, Mack Brown just got paid $5MM and I have yet to see him catch an interception, make a tackle or score a TD.

These guys talked big but they played big too. But nothing lasts forever. They aren't the same that's for sure. I think the emergence of UF hurts the most. 2 teams competing (FSU & UM) for the Florida talent is one thing; add a 3rd team and it gets tough.

I had to admit there is some truth when one of the Miami ex-players explained that other teams didn't like the unsportsman-like conduct when celebrating touchdowns. He said in some form or another, "If you don't like our excessive celebrations, then try stopping us from scoring."

I had no problem with their scoring celebrations, as long as they kept the bad boy stuff on the field. LIstening to Michael Irvin, it's pretty easy to see why they couldn't keep their head on straight off the field.

According to Irvin, they were the toast of the town, getting priority admittance into nightclubs, higher priority than Dolphins players(he was serious!), sounded like they didn't pay for anything when they went out, and can you imagine the girls? I'm picturing Leinart X 2.

Sounded like they were in desperate need of adult supervision.
