The Shield- the end is near

Man, The Shield is right up there at the top of my all time favorites. I'll really miss it. Sons of Anarchy is doing a good job of filling the void. Amazing episode tonight. Has every bit of the intensity of Shield.

That was a good line but I think my favorite was at the very end as he's walking out:

"I've done worse."

Just a classic and it would not have disappointed me at all of they would have saved that for the very end and made that the very last scene of the series. Fade to black with their signature song. Very nice.

Speaking of the real Rampart, I wonder if the guy that was a track star at Oregon had ran track for Texas instead if he would have ended up in prison.

Vic did utter two classics in that one.
one thing I have learned from watching every episode of this series, if it looks like it's gonna happen one way, it rarely does. great writing

btw did anyone catch Dwight's 'Shield' reference in last week's "Framing Toby" episode of The Office?
Freaking hilarious

NO ACL - I did catch that. I can't believe it is over, tonight is going to be intense. I have given up on trying to figure which way it is going to end.... kinda like trying to figure who should repesent the Big 12 in the championship game.

Unless it ends with all breaking into a song and dance then it should be intense. Looking forward to it but it will be a sad moment when it's over since there isn't likely going to be anything as good to take it's place.

The Shield is the only show I can think of that take me from a good mood to an intense mood. Usually I have to be in the mood to watch something intense and dramatic. The Shield puts me there.

The confession scene from last week was as good as I have ever witnessed on TV. Not the smart *** comments about "how much memory" etc.....

When Vic sat down and couldn't speak at first.....you could see him struggle....with what appears to be what little semblance of conscious he has left.......and he has to actually SAY all the vile crap he has done instead of justifying it in his head.........and then...........he just flips a switch and you can truly see that this dude has NO redeeming qualities whatsoever. A monster.

I'm speechless, and I must watch again before I can comment.

Perfect ending in my opinion.

That look on Vic's face - is he gonna off himself? He sees the pictures of his kids and knows he'll probably never see them again. Ok he's going for the gun, he's gonna off himself like Shane. Nope - gonna make a run. A desk job is as good as prison for Vic. He's either making a run for the border or trying to find his family.

No family, no Strike Team, no badge, no gun. A fate worse than death for him.

He'll do his 3 years at the desk, but him taking out the gun when he's not supposed to shows he hasn't changed a bit. He didn't learn anything or change at all. And that's awesome. Too often writers feel like they need to bring characters full circle and have them change. Vic was the same guy he was in the first episode when he shot Terry; if not worse; and definitely more lonely.

Great show and and a greater series. I didn't see Shane doing that to his family, however not surprised that he did that to himself. I was betting on a shoot out with Vic and Ronnie getting killed, but I guess that has been played out too many times in other movies.

Do you think Dutch killed the mom or the son. I have been waiting on them to to emphasize the character flaw he has (remember him strangling the cat). But that wouldn't explain the phone calls he was receiving from the home of the mom/kid.

Anyway what do we start watching now. A huge void left by this great series. Props to everyone involved.

I saw 1 of the 3 endings. I'd been thinking Shane might take himself out now for a couple of episodes. I was thinking Vic would warn Ronnie and he would run but am not surprised by the outcome. Definitely did not see the desk job for Vic. I was starting to think that after the first bust went bad that the feds would revoke the deal and Vic would go down.

Best series ever, IMO. It;'s hard for me to compare because sitcoms are ususally so played out by the time they do this I stop caring, and I have never been a loyal viewer of a dramatic series like this.
Shane had gotten to the point that he could justify doing something that heinous in his own twisted mind. Ronnie, you have to feel bad for. You could see Vic agonizing over screwing his friend, but not bad enough to not go through with it.
The desk job for Vic was a great twist that I never saw coming. They have him completely backed into a corner with that deal, and my personal continuation has him bailing on the desk job and going on the lam as a 21st century Outlaw Josey Wales...

Top scenes that stuck with me for days and prevented me from sleeping the night of. In order of most to least:
1. Acaveda getting mouth pumped.
2. Lem getting blown up.
3. Vic's confession. (second to the last episode)
4. Vic giving up his pal.
5. Shane killing his family
6. Girl getting her face grilled.

No ACL I am with you on Vic becoming a renegade cop. He has nothing to lose. He can wait out his time at the desk job while playing renegade cop at night randomly shooting bad guys. Maybe they could start a new series with that theme.
