The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Terminator 3

Watching football on FOX, I've been inundated with commercials for "THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES" which from what I can tell involves the family relying on the services of a Terminator with good people skills to fight off the violent attacks of a Terminator out to kill the protagonists.I think it looks stupid, but I am sure some will watch it. Fine. My question is, doesn't this COMPLETELY wreck the continuity with the third movie? In the third movie, John Connor acts like the sight of a Terminator is the most shocking thing in the world. It's impossible! They stopped Judgment Day! The inference if not outright statement is that John Connor, post T2, went about his days convinced they had eliminated the possibility of Judgment Day, Terminators, all that ****.

Now we find out he spent the better part of the years between T2 and T3 running from more
Terminators, under the protection of
a Terminator.

I am guessing they will attribute this to heavy drug use during that period of time. He's stoned on GHB and doesn't remember anything that happens between T2 and T3, thus his shock.

Your theory?

The official position, from IMDB, is that:

"This series opens before events in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003) and continues in a different timeline."

So they recognize T3 just can't be reconciled. But James Cameron purists never liked T3 anyway. Cameron directed T1 & T2, but not T3. This series is for those that worship Cameron, they even make a new major character to name Cameron in homage of him.

Watched it.....extremely terrible.

Wonder if John Connor got a woody when they time traveled with the T-chick and they all came out naked at the end.

I would've.

His mom is hotter.

And I didn't think it was terrible, but I can see where it can get there pretty fast...

im shocked someone on hornfans thought a network television show sucked...shocked i tell ya

i thought it was good and it got great reviews...

I'm looking forward to seeing how this show goes. 1st episode was solid and it's not just because of the hot little Terminator. T3 was just bad so if these guys are going to create new history post T2 and try to ignore T3, I'm all for it.

Since it involves time travel, I have no doubt the last episode of the series can have some change in the timeline that corrects itself to fall in line with T3.

it was better than I thought it would be but of course i thought it would be unwatchable and kind of tuned into see the train wreak. I will watch it again tonight, you know, to see what happens. With nothing else really on because of the strike, if it stays entertaining I will dvr it

So far it's worth watching, although there's definitely some consistency issues with the movies. Probably will be ok if you take it for what it is.

BTW, after the scene where they showed the terminator eating and saying she wasn't like the other units, anyone think they're setting up a little human-robot action? Hmmmm......

Yes but Doc, much of that could have been Cowboy fans too shocked to turn the channel and giants fans too shocked to turn the channel

I'm ALL about River Tam (Summer Glau) from Firefly/Serenity. I have no shame in admitting that I am giving the series a chance because of her. So far, I am reasonably impressed. Of course Summer's character in this has resembled River Tam a TON!

I liked the second episode a lot more than the first. I am worried that this series has no where to go...

*****small spoilers*****

How long can they really build up the battle?

I get the distinct impression its going to be an ongoing saga of staying in 1 place for 4-6 months, another terminator finds them (and has the shooting skills of George Lucas' Stormtroopers) , they disable the terminator, and move again only to have the cycle repeat.

I am thinking the "A-Team" sorta episodes. Each new week theres a new city with folks needing help.

I think the writers are actually going to give us some future episodes too. Since T-hottie will be same age in both times, they can jump through time and show us the war with Skynet and have half shows in both times. Unless they don't have to give all the actors 1/3 time every week, then we might just get full episodes in the future. I think the options are way more open for the writers and look forward to seeing how they take it.

This is the one HUGE thing that bugs the crap out of me. These are super future robots that are made to kill. Yet every time they have their target in front of them the take forever to start shooting. It's always:
---I see you, look at me, I'm scary...
---Let me raise my gun at an incredibly slow speed
---Ha, you thought I was going to start shooting? First I must aim for a couple of seconds
---I'm almost ready to fire and....Crap I got hit by a truck.

What good is a killing machine that has the reflexes of a 70 year old women? I know they are doing this for dramatic effect but there are other ways to do that.

It also kicked ratings *** due to it being one of the only new shows around these days.

Summer kicked ***. Well worth watching.

Did you folks notice they totally ripped of the Star Trek movie on the promo poster with Summer as a hot cyborg torso on wires? Another good move/cross reference.

I'll keep watching.
